Santa Fe SE 3.2L V6

For a rarely used car, 2 door lock failures are unacceptable. Prior to 2016, the car was only used about 2 months per year. It started to be fully used in 2016 (daily) and a year later the locks failed.

This has to imply a defect/design failure. Interesting that newer Hyundais are being recalled for door lock failures.

In this colder weather, I go to start my 07 Sante Fe in the mornings to de-ice usually about 10 minutes before leaving for work. I do not have keyless entry so I have to manually lock the doors. They do not lock on cold mornings when SUV is warming up. Each time I press the lock button or the manual button, it unlocks itself. I have tried locking with the master key, but that does not lock the doors either. All doors will unlock even though only unlock driver side door to start the vehicle. There have been vehicle break-ins in the area, so I do not even want to let the vehicle warm up without being in it. I can lock the doors after driving for a bit or when I get to where I need to go and hit the button. This is very annoying at 6am in 20 degree weather to have to sit in my vehicle til it warms up.

Update from Dec 13, 2014: my mistake---i have a 2004 Sante Fe
