The clear coat is peeling off my 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe. Has been for a couple years now. It is just awful. A total eyesore. Embarrassing beyond words. There is an approx 12"x6" spot on each of the front doors. Most of the roof is exposed. Several spots in varying sizes (approx 2" - 4") on the hood. And, there is also a lot of patchy rust on the vehicle in just the oddest places that can only be due to Hyundai's notorious "bad paint". Because of the age of my vehicle, I am way past warranty here. And, because this is all over the car, not limited to one or two sections, the body shop recommends a full auto body repaint. We are talking thousands of dollars. I cannot afford that. The value of the car is only $1000. I simply cannot justify investing $3-4K in paint. I'm looking at getting a newer car. I honestly don't think this one will be accepted as a trade. And, I honestly don't think anyone will pay anything for it either. I am looking at junking this vehicle. A loss of $1000. It is just sad. If this car still had a perfect paint job, I would keep driving it for years and years. It only has 75,000 miles on it. I just invested in a couple significant repairs, so I definitely would like to keep it. But, not when I am embarrassed to be seen walking to/from it in the parking lot in my apt.
