This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The contact rented a 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in park(P), she exited the vehicle and proceeded to the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that while attempting to open the rear latch, the vehicle started rolling backward. During the incident, an occupant who is the contact's daughter jumped out of the vehicle to assist the contact with attempting to stop the vehicle. A 4-month-old child was in the vehicle during the failure. The vehicle collided with a vehicle and was scratched and then collided with the mirror on another vehicle where it came to a stop. The contact sustained knee and leg inquires. The contact was pending a doctor's appointment. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Each time the vehicle is driven the transmission will slip out of gear when trying to shift and send the engine rpm into a rev. During this vehicle stops accelerating and feels as if it is completely in neutral. Finally the transmission will slam into gear jostling the occupants. This happens when the engine attempts to shift around 15,20,25 and 40 mph. Once the transmission slipped out of gear on a shift, lost acceleration, and then slammed to a halt as if shifting into park. The vehicle was moving at 15 mph when this occurred and the vehicle came to a complete stop. I have taken the vehicle into the dealers service department to be told they cannot duplicate the issue. Each time when I get the vehicle back it immediate starts slipping out of gear on shifts again. I have recorded the issue numerous times but have been unable to get the dealer to accept there is an issue.
The transmission failed at under 800 miles on this new vehicle. Each gear shift in the transmission was substantially extended and the vehicle would jerk when sitting into gear. You could hear/feel the engine revving while only accelerating slightly. When entering the highway, the vehicle's extended shift caused a very slow and delayed acceleration, requiring other drivers to change lanes or rapidly slow down to avoid a collision. The Hyundai dealer confirmed the transmission issue, and submitted a warranty claim to Hyundai which was approved. The vehicle is currently pending repair. There were no warning lamps or messages. I have several videos showing the problem, but can not attach them.
