This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The seat belt for the second-row passenger seat on the driver side frequently comes unbuckled. This sometimes happens within minutes of buckling it and sometimes over 20 minutes later. My daughter is in a booster seat, and this happens regardless of whether I buckle her in or she buckles herself in. Even when I buckle her in and then pull hard on the belt to check that it is fully buckled, the seat belt still sometimes comes unlatched. The driver seat belt has also come unlatched several times when I am driving, also within minutes or long after I have buckled myself in. Yes, this is available for inspection upon request. My safety and my children's safety is obviously at risk if we cannot trust our seat belts to remain latched. The problem has not yet been inspected, reproduced, or confirmed by any third parties. There are no warning signals prior the belts unbuckling; the "seat belt unbuckled" alarm in the car begins to sound once the belts unbuckle themselves.
Seat belts come unbuckled randomly Has happened multiple times over the past 2 years with drivers seat and second row driver side seat. Switched second row car seat to LATCH install due to safety concern
Rear passenger seat belt has repeatedly unlatched itself while car is in motion. Occurs without anyone pushing the release button. Has happened multiple times.
While driving to work, the seatbelt suddenly unlatched midway through the drive without any pressing of the release button, and nothing close to it that could have pressed on it. This happened while moving (not stopped at a light). The cars seatbelt warning system started beeping to alert that the driver was not buckled.

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the front passenger-??s side seat belt unintendedly unlatched with an occupant seated in the seat. The contact stated that the alarm sounded as if the seat belt was not being used while the seat was occupied. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. Drivers side seatbelt will sporadically, unlatch on its own. No particular conditions seeming involved. Just buckled one moment, and then unbuckled on its own the next.
The driver seat belt only locks sometimes. It also will unlock while driving. This is a safety issue if I'm in an accident I can be thrown from the vehicle. I contacted the dealership and they advised no recall has been attached to my VIN but it is under warranty still so they can fix. When the seat belt unlocks the seat belt light is triggered and the alarm goes off
This has actually happened a few times. That stated, I KNOW I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt because my aunt was killed when she was a teenager (in the late 60's) when she was thrown through the windshield because she wasn't wearing one...so it was DRILLED into us. That stated, most recently last Thursday 8/8, I got in my car, buckled up, backed down my driveway and was 1 house away when my seatbelt came undone. It just like slipped out of the holder. Thankfully, I am in a subdivision so there is no traffic and speeds are slow. This has happened at higher speeds on main roads. It is really concerning that this happens. I don't know when it will happen or what triggers it. It has happened maybe 5 times.
The front passenger seat belt will not retract. This leave the seat belt useless and is a danger to any passenger. I contacted Hyundai to get an appointment weeks ago and tired to follow up this week and still no one has contacted me. This is unacceptable.
HI, OUR 2023 HYUNDAI PALISADE 3RD ROW middle SEAT BELT pops open while driving. I have read online this is a very popular issue. Happy Hyundai Oak Lawn Dealer said its $550 dollars to fix it and not covered under warrantly. Is there anything that can be done.
Seat belt buckle of second row bucket seat on driver-??s side is malfunctioning. Buckle clips in as expected, and then disengages on its own without user touching it. Seat belt unclicked with a passenger sitting in it, when driver applied brakes coming to a stop. There are no warning lights or error codes. The safety of anyone sitting in that seat is entirely compromised and we cannot use this seat until the buckle is replaced. We consider this a total failure of the safety device and needs to be investigated within other vehicles immediately. We are getting the belt buckle replaced at local Hyundai dealership.
The seat belt for the driver seat spontaneously unbuckles while the car is in motion. After fastening the buckle, the buckle disengages while driving, with no warning or provocation. This has happened 3 times on the driver seat and once on the 2nd row captain chair. The dealership has offered to inspect and replace all the buckles. The car has 10k miles and is 8 months old.
