We have owned this Palisade for exactly 1 year and while visiting our in laws out of town, we were driving about 45 MPH and the sunroof literally exploded, it sounded like a shotgun went off inside the vehicle. The sunroof tray was open so glass particles fell all over me and my wife and it scared us because we didn't know what happened. To make a long story short, the process of trying to get the dealer to warranty this has been an outright nightmare, and now that I have done my own research, I do see this is common across many Hyundai model vehicle and Hyundai went to court over this same issue just 2 years ago.
The dealer claims it was a small rock peck but we take very good care of our vehicle and nothing hit or penetrated the glass, if that had happened I would take full responsibility and file a claim with my insurance company. This is absolutely something that appears to have already happened to several Palisade owners and not a single person mentioned rock pecks or broken sunroof, they all claim "EXPLODED". My wife and I didn't know this was even a thing until we started digging deeper and deeper and I now have saved documentation of many reports from the Santa Fe, Tucson, and Veloster. To make things worse, the dealership in my area would not even offer us a rental vehicle on a new vehicle that we own and our Palisade has been there since Monday and they have done absolutely nothing and today is Saturday. I called Hyundai Consumer Affairs and opened a case, Corporate has been nice about the situation. However Hyundai claims they have no issues with their glass and suggests I file a claim for the repairs.
