This is a very random problem with varying degrees of manifestation. At best, it's a mild clunk with no problem accelerating. At worst, the jolt feels like I'm being rear-ended and the car shuts off, requiring a restart. Sometimes it will happen several times a day. Sometimes I can go weeks without having the issue. I've had it to the dealership 3 times and they haven't been able to experience the issue; so, I had a really hard time convincing them that it really happens. They assured me that this was normal for an AWD vehicle. I was married for 30 years to an automotive engineer working on drivability; so, I KNOW this issue would NEVER pass to make it into production. I ran my phone video camera and got a recording of it happening. I showed the video to the service rep and finally got her to believe me. The last time I took the car in, they did a reset. It didn't work, it started doing it again a week later.
Other than this issue the car is great; but, this issue is so serious, I'm thinking of getting rid of it. It's pretty unsettling to be in heavy traffic and have no assurance that as you hit the gas pedal your car will go when you need it to.
