We were told that the reason for this was that it was not safe for the driver to use the navigation system while driving!
Rampant idiocy. Most of the time, we use a search function in a navigation system when we are travelling away from home. Obviously, any sane driver does not use it, the passenger does.
Without this ability, we found ourselves on a rainy night, in a strange city, on a major highway, looking for a restaurant or a hotel, somewhere to take a break. Rather than pull to the side of the road (dangerous), we pulled off on the next exit and wandered around looking for a safe place to park where we could stop driving and use the navigation. Since the navigation system was so out of date, the hotel it took us to had been demolished years ago (by the look of the site). We ended up driving all over until we found a service station that was open with a helpful clerk who directed us to a hotel.
If Hyundai are so concerned that their drivers are mentally incompetent enough to attempt to use the system while driving, perhaps they should also program the car so that it cannot be driven over the speed limit of the road in use. Maybe stick a breathalyser on the steering wheel as well, so that when I'm driving and drinking at the same time, it can tell me when I'm over the legal limit ! How about a chloroform spray that will sense when the kids are being disruptive in the back seat and give them a quick shot? Backseat driver? Give us a button that will give them a shot too!
