I think this is the same problem as the one known to apply to the Elantra. I haven't seen reports in relation to other i30s but it's a very similar engine, year, etc. and quite likely off the same production line.
The dealer from whom I bought the car, in 2014, has presented my perfect maintenance / service / oil change record to Hyundai but they have rejected the claim.
I'm now trying to sell the car but, understandably, finding this difficult due to the noise - particularly when the engine is idling.
Aside from the noise, the car performs faultlessly. I can run it at 110km/h (the maximum highway speed limit here) for an hour or more at a time. Acceleration is good, braking is fine. Cruise control works perfectly. Fuel consumption is between10 and 12 km per litre of 91 petrol. The dealer said I might find the car using oil now but this has not happened and the oil remains clean.
