2010 Hyundai genesis coupe production date 2009 . (First I would like to mention that I don't appreciate having to state what I feel like in the morning (guy/gal) to open an account here for the purpose of possibly saving someone's life. The truth is, most mornings when I wake up I feel like sh*t!
Hyundai is not pro actively acknowledging, in fact they are denying that the HECU or ABS module in their recall campaign from 2013 is in deed a serious safety hazard repair that is affecting far more of there models than admitting. the recall is for genesis 4dr sedan but is clearly affecting the 2dr coupe as well. I learned this the hard way by taking my father in laws 2010 genesis coupe to check a braking issue that my wife made me aware of before driving 80 miles through the hill side to drop off at my in laws new home. The first corner I turned on out of the driveway I hit a baby stroller because the brakes dropped to the floor and in my reflex to pump them and pull the e-brake, it was to late. This was yesterday. Today I attempted to call Hyundai number given by there website. The recording stated a high call volume and to please contact through website. Next phone call was to Stevens Creek Hyundai service department ( Simon helped me) where I couldn't seem to get cooperation regarding the nature of my request for recall service. there computer was down is what Simon said and forwarded me to scheduling where I also received an uncooperating attitude that was guiding me to set up a 27 point brake inspection which would include a cost most likely. Once I mentioned the Technical Service Bulletin 13-01-052 (which I read in full) drafted and sent out by Hyundai to all dealers I was told that there appointments were 5-6 weeks out...OK..stumble...um august 30 at around 9:15 am..ok..than hung up on me. BTW she immediately pulled my car up on the computer less than 2 minutes after Simon said there down.
Aside from the strange conspiracy type behavior that I was greeted with.....SHAME ON YOU HYUNDAI! MY WIFE WAS GOING TO DRIVE THIS CAR ON WINDING ROADS LIKE HWY 17 TO SANTA CRUZ. MY 16 year old DAUGHTER WAS GOING TO TRAIN IN THIS CAR...........
And if there happened to be a baby in that stroller that ended up luckily belonging to one of the many homeless in that area , I would have never forgave myself and would hold your company to the highest amount of penalty possible. Monetarily and criminally. I am just asking to repair what is your mistake at this time . I will continue to drive this automobile as is , because why should I acknowledge there's a problem if your telling me there isn't. It was just a Random occurrence (which it wasn't) . I hope that this complaint is well received and action is taken before I or someone else with this problem (there are many) are forced to request damages for loss of more than a stroller and groceries.
When I build something for the public ( which I do) I am known to exhaust all resources if informed my build may be harmful to right the MISTAKE. The things I build can run into the millions , so I ensure that quality is of the utmost importance.
