A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Driving on major expressway, heard a loud "boom", the roof lining of the car was flapping in the wind, glass covered the back seat and flew into traffic behind me, scratching the trunk paint on its way. Insurance will only cover if a rock hit it (with my $1000 deductible, of course) and as of yet, the dealer has not agreed that Hyundai will cover this. There is a class action lawsuit (yep, Google it). The terms of the suit don't even begin to reimburse the owner for inconvenience, PTSD (close to it), lower resale value of the car, purchase of a different car (since these are a ticking time-bomb!) REALLY!??? A sad sum of $1000 IF we choose to purchase another Hyundai...$600 if we don't. This car isn't even paid off yet! Honestly, feeling ripped off....and it's a shame because we really loved the car.

sun/moon roof spontaneously shattered sun/moon roof spontaneously shattered sun/moon roof spontaneously shattered

My sun/moon roof spontaneously shattered while driving down the highway at about 60 mph. I heard a loud boom and thought for sure the semi-truck next to me blew a tire. Since I didn't see anything, I looked at my tire pressure because I figured I had blown the tire since the noise was SO loud. A few minutes later I noticed air rushing into the car (like a door or window was open). I also heard a crackling sound. I opened up the cover to the sun/moon roof and looked up to see that the glass was shattered but still in tact (at that point). I immediately shut the cover and not long after heard the sun/moon roof collapse and watched glass shards blow off the top of my car behind the vehicle. I went to Hyundai and they didn't respond at all or mention anything about other vehicles in their line that had experienced spontaneous shattering (such as the Veloster, the Elantra, and a few others). My insurance will cover the repairs, but I still have to pay the deductible even though, now, I think it was an issue with the sun/moon roof and should be repaired and paid for by Hyundai. I'll post more when/if I get a resolution from Hyundai.

Update from Sep 12, 2016: Hyundai covered the shattered glass under the vehicle warranty.
