My 2013 HYUNDAI Genesis Sedan (Model number- G314AR38BX00, Engine- 3.8L DOHC GDI 24-valve V6 engine) with odometer reading 170,000 km- 180,000 km- the Engine COMPLETELY blew out on me on the highway!! The car made loud knocking noises then lost complete power and stalled. Nothing worked including brakes. The vehicle was very hot with heat waves coming out of front hood and smells of burnt toast or medal was strong. I had just got off the highway and the car immobilized on its own.
I called Hyundai to find that only the 2013 Hyundai genesis coupes were included in the engine recall and not the 2013 Hyundai genesis sedans. This is completely unfair as the coupes and sedans have the SAME ENGINE just one is 2 door and the other is 4 door!!! According to Hyundai my car has the KSTS software update installed- which is the knocking sensor software that should have warned me when the knocking started that my engine was failing and going to catch on fire but NO WARNING LIGHTS OR SYMBOLS OF ANYKIND appeared on my dashboard. NO ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, NO OIL SENSOR LIGHTS OR FEUL LIGHTS NOTHING!!!!!!
I had kept up with my oil changes and maintenance so the engine blowing up is a direct cause of the KSTS SOFTWARE FAILING AND ENGINE RECALL!! I almost died and Hyundai is not considering my car in the recall despite the ksts software failing and engine blowing up! this is absolutely unjust and unlawful to allow Hyundai to continue to allow ALL their models to continue to operate on roads with out fixing our engines!! getting the ksts software installed instead does absolutely nothing to help save drivers lives as it DOES NOT WORK!!!!! I want Hyundai to include the 2013 genesis sedan 3.8l v6 engine in their recalls before innocent people blow up in flames and die!! please contact me 416-574-2629- Josie.
