Genesis 3.2L

Transmission hangs after downshifting at low speeds then slams into gear at high engine rpm. Very dangerous. Hyundai claims that they can not replicate the problem when test driven.

Genesis 3.8L/4.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,000 miles

Replaced transmission summer/fall of 2016 with a used transmission with 21,000 miles on it, a year later 09/2017 I'm having the same issues as before, little to no acceleration, engine revs, transmission knocks violently into gear. Very unsafe to drive and very expensive to repair. RECALL IS NEEDED ASAP!!!!

Genesis 4.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 66,000 miles

Hyundai admits to having complaints of defects in transmission. Would not cover repairs because not under warranty. Admits not enough complaints to file a recall. This is not being proactive to resolve a possible long term concern. Are they waiting for a physical injury or loss of life before they admit fault or guilt? Very careless of Hyundai not to stand behind their brand.

After extended time in stop & go traffic, auto transmission has problems shifting through lower gears during acceleration . For example, from a stop it will accelerate through 1 & 2nd, hang up in the shift to 3rd, over-rev because the accelerator is down & transmission is slipping or out of gear, then slams into 5th. Typically, this happens in the 20-30 mph range, rpm jumps into the 3000's during the "over rev" for about a second or two, then it slams into 5th (after it slams into gear I drop it into manual shifting to see what gear it's in, typically 5th). Now that I know what to expect, the hesitation is just long enough for recognition & time to lift off the accelerator to ease the slamming into a higher gear.

This problem first happened in the 65,000mile range. I took it to the dealer, where they changed transmission fluid & filter (I was told it's a closed system). That seemed to cure the problem, but it has now reoccurred a year later.

I've scheduled an appointment with the dealer next week for further diagnosis.

Genesis 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

The car regularly stalls when shifting speed, at least for an extended period once or twice a week. As I try to accelerate, there will be a significant delay where the engine revs up but the car is stalling and then the gear kicks in and there is a jolt as the car moves forward. There is a whiplash effect Scared to accelerate because the car jerks so hard. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong

Genesis 3.8 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

The car regularly stalls when shifting speed, at least for an extended period once or twice a week. As I try to accelerate, there will be a significant delay where the engine revs up but the car is stalling and then the gear kicks in and there is a jolt as the car moves forward. There is a whiplash effect accompanying a major shock to the car/engine. Extremely dangerous to experience, especially on the highway.
