I'm not sure if this is an electrical or fuel related issue: I was stopped to turn left and when I took off, the car accelerated normal but shut off totally at about 15 mph and could have caused an accident with an on coming vehicle if it occurred during acceleration as I was crossing over a few lanes of traffic. I came to this site to check out if anyone else had the issue and it seems a lot of people are having the same issue. What I have noticed is that once in a while a strong smell of fuel comes from the tank area but there is no leaking fuel. This is NOT related to fueling the vehicle and is intermittent.
I have not taken the vehicle in for repair yet since I see that many people are just relying on incompetent mechanics who are charging for misdiagnosing the issue. It is NOT a battery issue, and obviously it is not a crank sensor issue. I was wondering if there may be an issue with a fuel vapor return of some sort causing the car to stall. Anyone with information on this fix, please reply because people are spending a lot of money and Hyundai don't seem to want to get involved because no or not enough people have died from this issue. Hyundai is a great car as I have had 4 of them, and I'd like to see the fix for this.
