The rear door (hatchback door), (latches/locks/linkage, structure), on my 2008 Hyundai Entourage mini-van, failed to open. All efforts to open the door proved fruitless. Request Hyundai motor America to repair latches, locks, and/or linkage under one or more of the recall and/or repair consent decree negotiated with the national highway transportation safety administration (NHTSA). Note, latches and locking mechanisms on this vehicle have failed previous. Reference the passenger side of the vehicle sliding door.
Engine hood released from closed position and flew up at about 35-40mph. Latch and safety both failed. Notified Hyundai usa on Oct 26, 2013. Resulted in significant hood damage but thankfully, the driver maintained control and no injuries.
The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Entourage. The contact stated that while traveling 65 mph, the door ajar warning light illuminated and a bell chimed from the control panel intermittently. The contact also stated the driver's side sliding door failed to lock automatically. The vehicle was taken to the dealer seven times. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 68,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Entourage. The contact stated while driving at approximate speeds of 40-45 mph, the drivers door opened without warrant. She immediately slowed down, pulled over to the shoulder of the road and closed the door. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to her residence without incident where it would later be towed to the dealer for further inspection. The failure and current mileages were 16,747.
