I didn't know about this site so I don't have the dates I have taken my car in to the dealership for repair. Since 09/2016 I have been there at least four times and another visit scheduled for 04/13/2017. Always the same thing. The rear latch will not open the hatchback. Using the key fob I can hear it click. Try the handle to open it and I can feel it "unhook" but it will not open. This is not every time, but at least 1/3 of the time. (When I get a record of the times I was there, I'll add it.)
I've taken it in to the dealership. The first couple of time the latch was working when I got there so they did nothing. The third time (again, it was working when I got there) they took the door assembly apart, cleaned and lubricated it. When it started to happen again, they replaced the whole thing from the engine compartment to the hatchback. I know it involved the wiring from the engine compartment because there is are two bulges in the rubber stripping around the drivers door that weren't there before.
Now it's happening again. I have yet another appointment scheduled. My warranty expires this month. I asked the guy I talked to on the phone if the cost will continue to be covered since the problem started during the warranty period. He said he didn't know for sure, but he doubted it.
I need this fixed. I can't use the backseat for cargo space because there are two carseats back there. And if I have a flat, I can't get back there for the spare.
Update from Apr 13, 2017: 4/13 - I visited the dealer today. They could not make the latch fail so all they did was lubricate the latch. They were sure to tell me my warranty has expired - 11 days ago. I checked my phone records. Expiration date was a Sunday. I called on Monday to schedule this appointment. They didn't charge me this time, but told me I would have to pay next time. I will add my other visits to the dealer in separate complaints. (There were four.)
