Transmission slips gears at slower speeds. Transmission fluid has been dark even after regular changes starting at 30K. Slipping starting around 80K. However, it is at 110K and still shifting.

Had same problems with my vehicle transmission slipping back in 2017. It was under warranty and the dealer supposedly replaced the transmission. Now this transmission has 28,000 miles on it but it is doing exact same thing. This model is no longer being sold in the US but apparently Hyundai has a major problem which it has not addressed based on the comments on this website.

This slipping in the tranny was prevalent from day one and i took it to a number of Hyundai dealerships and they would only tell me they could not find the problem. Will never buy a Hyundai again...

I had this car in 3 times for significant repairs for other things and mentioned all 3 times that the transmission was slipping. The first time I took it in was at 84,000. Each time the technician said it wasn't slipping when he had it out. Now after my warranty has just expired they are telling me that the transmission needs to be replaced and tell me that they can install a reworked transmission ($3000.) plus fluids and labour on top of that! First and last Hyandai for me.

Elantra Touring SE 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles

Since early on transmission has slipped, slammed into gear, not engaged at all. It will rev and the car won't move. Was almost rear ended today trying to accelerate when the light turned green, it was the smallest incline and it wouldn't go. It happens constantly, had mentioned it to dealer more than once, they ran codes said no problems. I have contacted Hyundai of course, I have to go to dealer to have it looked at. Bringing it to them Oct 20, 2014. It's really dangerous when I'm switching lanes or trying to merge and the car just doesn't accelerate then slams into gear. Also happens when switching from reverse to drive and vice versa, hesitates then slams into gear with a loud thud.

Will have the dealer see if the transmission needs replacement. It's dangerous to suddenly lose power while driving.
