Engine noise started two weeks ago. A loud knocking noise, loss of power, and the engine would rev rpms but go nowhere. Ended up towing the car home. Checked the engine and it had barely any oil and there was sludge at the top of the engine where oil goes in. Ran an engine flush twice and cleaned a lot of sludge out of the engine. Still has a knock, not as bad, but I do not trust it on the road. Called it into the dealership, and they said its over the 60k miles warranty and I am the 2nd owner but they would try to call it into Hyundai. No guarantee it will be fixed.
The dealership is 30 days out so I have to wait till next month to even get an answer on the warranty fix. I am second owner, and have had this car only a year. I never got a warning light, never got a low oil light, never got an engine light. If the dealership doesn't fix then I'll look into an engine swap. I felt bad not getting regular maintenance at a shop, but after reading all the stories I don't think it would have mattered. These engines should be recalled.
