The 2014 Hyundai Elantra 2.0 engine has very poor oil circulation to the top of the engine (valve train) in cold weather. If you don't warm this engine up before driving in cold weather, it won't last long. Use full synthetic oil.

P.S. Not buying another Hyundai!

I brought my 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT with only 39,000 miles. I have kept this car maintenance with oil changes every 3,000 miles since being purchased. Now at 139,000 miles my car started making a knocking, rattling noise. No check engine light came on. I had just got a oil change and another wasn't due til Nov. My car cut off and police officer helped move off the road. But it cranked back up later. But I didn't trust driving it. So I had it towed. The gauge to let you know if your engine is hot or cool stopped working. But it has coolant.

I had it towed to Hyundai Dealership and they said it needs an engine. Not sure why it would need a engine because no check engine light came on. But after reading all these complaints I will not buy another Hyundai.

So many people are having the same problems this is not a coincidence. What are they doing? It seems at certain amount of miles they built to malfunction. But since they didn't have a recall on this year I am stuck. This is an American made vehicle that's why I choose. But I have a Toyota that I have had since 2007 and engine is still good with proper maintenance and I am driving now with over 200,000 miles. I also have 2003 Honda and engine is still good.

So you tell me, I get a car and it only lasts for 6 years. Yes we have a problem. This is not a good representation of an American made product.
