When driving with gas pedal at 65 mph, the RPM is about 1700. I engage cruise at 65 mph. RPMs jumps to 2400 and stays there until cruise is disengaged. Fuel economy declines as engine over revs. At 70 mph RPMs, it will go from 2100 to 3000.
Definitely not normal! Not good for engine or transmission. My guess is car is dropping to fifth gear when cruise is engaged! CVT trans/six forward speed automatic!
Going to dealer in 10 days to see what is what! Have contacted Hyundai USA but no response so far!
Update from Oct 16, 2019: When the cruise is on, if you accelerate with the gas pedal the RPM will immediately drop back to where it was before cruise was on! Weird.
I believe the trans. is shifting to fifth gear when cruise goes on, much the same way that happens when you switch to sport mod from normal mode.
