problem #2

May 262024

Elantra SE 2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 134,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

The piston in my 3rd cylinder exploded while driving. The dealership won't cover it even though it is clearly a manufacturing defect. They did offer however to install a new engine for $9000. I intend to contact someone higher up in the Hyundai food change.

Elantra Value Edition

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38 miles

New car, two days after taking it out of dealer with 34 miles.

About to park and car loss acceleration (a minute before had already shake and loss it a bit too), then kept moving RPM around 1k up and down (car shakes)... after turning off, it won't turn back on.

Very frustrating, first new car I've bought in 40 years, precisely to avoid service and repairs. Dealer took it, I asked for a new one since I would not take back that one, getting another one tomorrow, but I'm afraid this could happen to the other too. No clear solution, but it seems to be a general problem that has happened to other 2018 Elantra as well, but others at high speed on highway, much worse.
