The passenger door would not open from the outside. Taken to dealer, first visit was to diagnose the problem, second visit to repair. A month later, I could not open the driver side door from the outside. Again, it was taken to dealer, and two visits were required to get it fixed. Three months later, rear passenger door could not be opened from inside or outside. Two visits required. They literally had to cut the interior panel apart to open the door. Luckily it was covered under warranty. I literally left the dealership only to discover that the rear driver door also stopped opening from the outside. Again, two visits required to be fixed under warranty.
Then this past winter, the rear passenger door again would not open from the outside. Unfortunately, I was now out of warranty. Called the dealer to get it fixed and found out that Hyundai actually extended the warranty for the door latches for ten years, unlimited mileage. This was probably done because its a $500 repair out of warranty, and eventually some poor soul would have broken all four doors and been unable to get out of their car; a horrible PR situation for Hyundai.
Still, if a car manufacturer can not get something as simple as door latches to work correctly, they probably shouldn't be building cars.
