Hyundai says manufacturing problems could have left metallic debris around the engine crankshaft and cause problems with oil flow. The pieces of metal could interfere with the oil flow through the connecting rod bearings and damage the connecting rod.
…This sounds like what my mechanic described, caused total engine failure. I have on Sundays for a years and I can't. I am a little short of understand why I never saw engine lights on giving me an alert that something was going wrong. There was no check engine light that ever came on. I was entering the interstate and hit acceleration to get into the lane and the car just bogged down and wouldn't shift gears so I assumed it was transmission, but my mechanic says the car is throwing so many codes in the engine that he can't even address the transmission. The car won't turn over at all and stay running. I'm beside myself, I have been a loyal Hyundai customer for a lot of years and I ran the bin and it doesn't look like it's one of the engines they're covering but yet it has the same issues. I wish there was a solution.
