CarComplaints.com Notes: So far the 2011 Elantra doesn't have the same volume of transmission problems that 2010 owners are fighting with. It also doesn't have the same pattern of steering and braking complaints that are piling up with the 2013 model year.
We're not saying the 2011 is perfect -- I mean, what were they thinking advertising their MPGs -- but there are worse choices.
Sounded like my front right tire was about to come off and the car was driving terrible. This was another time that I had to put this AWFUL car in the shop to have something repaired on it.
A woman ran into the right side of our 2011 Hyundai Elantra on March 07. The car was taken to a repair shop and repaired (supposedly). We received the car back and 2 days later while driving the right front axle fell out. After stopping, even tho the car was put in park, it would not stop rolling. Another axle was put in the car and when I got it back this time, when the brake was pressed, it was metal on metal. I took the car to a Hyundai dealership, they could not find the problem. They called a SPECIALIST in from the manufacturing plant. He said it was a DEFECTIVE axle and the computer was not reading it right. Another axle was ordered, it was DEFECTIVE so the shop would not install it.
We are now on axle number 5 and I am suppose to feel ASSURED THIS CAR IS SAFE??? Yeah, which one of them do you think would want to drive it? I volunteer the CEO of HYUNDAI.
