CarComplaints.com Notes: There's an emerging trend of transmission problem with the 2010 Elantra at fairly early mileage.
So far owners report having the transmission replaced under warranty but that won't hold up for much longer. It may be a bit premature but for now we're putting the "CLUNKER" rating on the 2010 Elantra just to be safe.
Speaking of being safe, you might not be unless Hyundai can figure out why their airbags aren't deploying.
My EPS light came on in December and I took it to the dealer because it supposed to mean something is failing in the electric power steering. I had noticed some play in the steering that seemed to be growing larger. The dealer disconnected the battery cable which reset the light and claimed it was caused by a low alternator voltage even though I wasn't having any electrical problems and there was no fault on the computer. They charged me $500 for a new alternator.
The light stayed off until we had a heavy rain and I drove through a puddle. It is back on again. They didn't fix the problem at all and after they hooked me for all kinds of extra charges like $10 just for their paperwork, I'm afraid to take it back there. I feel like they took advantage of me.
