There is a recall on this problem for model years 2011-2012. My year is not covered, although it's the same problem. Recall number 137. Car brakes one or more wheels, engine shuts off while driving in heavy traffic at idle speeds. A safety problem that Hyundai refuses to pay for.
Why the ESC sensor cannot be replaced via a port in the steering column is ridiculous. Instead, the whole steering column must be replaced. It's amazing and costly.
I paid the dealer for the repair since I could not use the car otherwise and the dealer or Hyundai Corp have refused to reimburse me for this fix.
This issue has tainted my loyalty to the Hyundai brand.
