Bought the Elantra from a guy in 2020 and it has been a great car except now the car will get stuck in 3rd gear randomly while driving.
Transmission shop told me this was it's "Safe-mode" to prevent further damage but feels pretty unsafe going 70mph down the highway. The car has been amazing otherwise and if I knew the trans needed flushing, I would've done that as soon as I bought the car. Now every mechanic is telling me it's too late to change the trans fluid because apparently the gunk inside is barely keeping it from slipping. So if I clean it now it'll outright fail.
I hate it because I love this car and so far this has been the ONLY issue. I drive it everyday to work and it gets stuck in gear but will still get me A to B. I guess I'll just keep driving it until the wheels fall off.
