The contact owns a 2002 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated the front driver's side seat belt failed to retract. The dealer and manufacturer were notified; however, they provided no assistance. The contact expressed concern for the safety issue involved. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000. The consumer was informed the seat belts were not covered under the extended warranty plan. Accident on 4/13/05 drivers side seat belt did not restrain driver causing driver to slam into steering wheel hitting head first and then chest area. The results were severe bruising to the chest area. The seat belt has not been repaired because Hyundai says that there is nothing wrong with it.
