This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
NHTSA campaign # 18V-026 says the Azera ABS electronics can collect water and short out causing a fire while the car is in a garage or not being used. But failure of the electronics because of water leaking into the system also affects the operation of the ABS where it cannot work when needed. The recall addresses rewiring the ABS so no power is present in the water leaking ABS module when the vehicle is not operating and parked but does not address failure of the ABS without fire from water leakage when the vehicle is driven. Hyundai should replace all Azera ABS systems that are prone to water leakage to preclude the ABS systems not working properly in and during braking emergencies. Unattended vehicle fires are one thing, ABS failure to operate as designed because of water leakage during emergency braking risks my life and those of others. The faulty components should be replaced to preclude ABS failures when emergency ABS braking is needed.
While traveling ~ 45 mph and slowing approaching a curve and stop sign, engine shutdown completely losing power assist for steering and brakes plus engine power. Steered car without power assist and applied un-powered assisted brakes to stop short of stop sign. Car restarted without difficulty. This was a second occurrence.
Engine stalls, intermittently when taking foot off accelerator. Twice while driving about 45 mph, several times under 25 mph while slowing down for a turn or stop sign. Loses power steering and power brakes. Normally car acts fine but about once a month (more frequently now) car will have a bad day and stalls several times in one day, (and then acts fine for a few days/weeks before having another bad day). Car starts right back up after stopping vehicle. Very much a safety issue!!! took car to dealer about 4 times before they were able to duplicate it. No service codes. They said it was the only car in the United States reporting this issue (until it also happened (4 times)while they were in the vehicle during my last visit to the dealer. They change crank shaft sensor but 4 days later, (5/27/12) car stalled 5 times in a 15 min. Period.
