The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated while driving 32-?"33 MPH, the rear of the vehicle was shaking, and the vehicle stalled. There was smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle. The engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the system needed to be reset. There was an unknown fault with the air bag. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 55 MPH, the vehicle began to shake, and the driver was able to pull over. There was an abnormal odor of smoke detected. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the same local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the coil needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred nine days later. While exiting the garage, the vehicle stalled. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. I am writing to you as the owner of a 2019 Hyundai Accent, which has recently experienced severe engine issues including low compression in three cylinders, sludge build-up, and eventual engine failure. It has come to my attention that these issues are not isolated incidents but are rather indicative of a systemic problem with Hyundai Accent models of this year. As you are undoubtedly aware, numerous reports and complaints have surfaced regarding similar engine failures and defects in the 2019 Hyundai Accent. These issues have not only caused significant inconvenience and financial burden to individual owners like myself, but they also pose serious safety concerns. Given the widespread nature of these problems, it is evident that they are not mere anomalies but rather result from inherent flaws in the design or manufacturing process of the vehicles. As such, I am firmly of the belief that these issues should be addressed as part of a Hyundai class action lawsuit.

I am writing to bring to your attention a critical safety concern regarding the 2019 Hyundai Accent, specifically regarding the persistent issue of oil burning in the engine. This problem has affected my vehicle, as well as numerous other owners of the same model year. Despite being well within the warranty period, when I brought my 2019 Hyundai Accent with approximately 50,000 miles to the dealership for repairs due to excessive oil consumption, I was met with refusal to address the issue under warranty. Upon further inquiry, it has come to my attention that this problem is widespread among Hyundai engines, with many owners experiencing similar issues. The consequences of this oil burning problem are not only financially burdensome for owners who are forced to continuously add oil between changes, but also pose a significant safety risk. Engine failure due to oil deprivation can result in sudden loss of power, leading to potentially hazardous situations, including accidents and injury. Despite numerous complaints and reports from Hyundai Accent owners, it appears that Hyundai has failed to take appropriate action to rectify this issue and ensure the safety and reliability of their vehicles. Therefore, I urge NHTSA to investigate this matter thoroughly and take necessary actions to hold Hyundai accountable for their failure to address this widespread and potentially dangerous defect in their vehicles. Owners like myself deserve a prompt and effective resolution to this issue to ensure the safety and integrity of our vehicles. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the oil warning light frequently blinked on the instrument panel. The contact called an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle. The mechanic discovered that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where an oil consumption test was performed, and an engine cleaning was performed to correct the failure. Despite the repair, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

was driving on the highway to a friends house, while i was driving a another vehicle was telling me to pull over and that there was smoke and fire underneath the car, i pulled over and crossed the bridge where there was light, once i got across i got out of the car and saw fire coming from the hood, i tried to put it out and that didn't work, so the good Samaritan who told me to pull over told me to get my son and get in her car because there was no way to save the car. As soon as we drove away the car exploded not even two mins later. insurance has inspected and claimed it a total loss, they didn't state how the fire started besides it is a total loss, now the car is totaled, insurance is paying part of it and i am working on the gap coverage to get them all the information we need and since the loan is more than what the care is worth i have no money to finance another vehicle or able to get financing especially since interest rates are so high. I have attached some pictures, it started in the engine is what it seems, once got out of the car, looked underneath and there was something leaking underneath, lost baby stuff, carseat base, stroller, formula just got earlier in the day, diapers damaged. alot was smoke damaged that was in the trunk.

The 2019 Accent runs amazingly well, oil changes on point and no light have gone on since purchase date. 2 weeks ago on a thursday, it started knocking and took to have checked and was told to take to Hyundai of Inland Empire/tow it/do not drive. Mr. Bushey at Hyudai verifed I need a new motor/engine and it will cost from 6k-8k. I now have a case number and the dealer is communicating with Hyundai of America/not sure what department. The car has 84k miles and the motor should not be faulty. I have been renting a car for 2 weeks, have no vehicle as a loaner and very concerned about why this original engine would just stop? The Dealer did verify it is the motor and I am still pending feedback ***** I have provided all service records to Hyundai of Inland Empire ******

The engine has been consuming excessive amounts of oil since the vehicle was purchased used in Aug 2022. Eventually during normal highway driving the engine made a loud knock, lost all power, and all of the oil began spilling out of the engine creating a large oil slick on the highway. The sudden lose of engine power led to difficulty steering and braking to move the vehicle to the shoulder of the road.

My 2019 Hyundai Accent engine failed at 65,004 miles. I've taken my car to a local Hyundai dealership from December 2020 up until it failing in December 2021, I've had an appointment at least once a month for my check engine light being on. They scheduled me my first appointment December 2020 and later told me they fixed the issue only for it to come back on a couple days later. I call them again letting them know and the schedule me again, same thing happens and the light comes back on a week later. This was an ongoing issue, the dealership kept telling me they fixed it and to make sure the gas cap was tightened but they could never stop my check engine light from coming back on. They told me back in September of 2021 that I had a large evap leak. When it came to finding this leak they were never successful. Fast forward to December 2021 my car started making these weird noises and I immediately brought it up to the same local Hyundai that I've been taking it to since day one. They tell me there is nothing they can do for me since they are booked up until Feb. 2022 and so were all the other dealerships near me. I understood and left then a week or two after this my car completely stops in the middle of the expressway. I had to get my car towed to Hyundai for them to tell e my engine seized, coincidental right? After an entire year of Hyundai not being able to find the issue and fix it my engine magically seizes, a 2019 Hyundai at that meaning the car is still fairly new. The entire time I was taking it there I was under warranty up until 5,004 miles ago. The powertrain warranty for a used car ends at 60,000 miles and now Hyundai expects me to pay for something I had no fault in. I have emailed, complained and spoke to almost everyone I can about this issue. I just want justice to be rightfully served and for Hyundai to cover all expenses towards my new engine replacement.

My connecting rod blew out of my engine I have a Hyundai Accent 2019, I have 65000 miles in the vehicle and have done some research as well and have seen that Hyundai vehicles for at least almost 10 years have had similar problems with their engines at around the same mileage. Maybe it-??s possible that it was the same problem with my vehicle.
