My car was experiencing shut-offs randomly while I would be driving down the road, and I would have to hit my flashers, wheel over to the side of the road and crank the car back up. It would also idle kinda strange and the RPMs weren't the worst but it would go up and down a bit, and 4,000 RPM's was not able to be exceeded sometimes, it would judder at that point often times. I replaced my fuel strainer and fuel pump motor and that probably helped since the strainer was dark brown and full of visible crud, but the issue persisted. But after about a week or two of this issue, the car decided to finally spit out a check engine light, and it was code P0339, THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR was intermittently going on and off of working (which they are notorious for). Replacement required an extended ratchet and a socket on the bolt holding it in place, and buying the new sensor from Advanced Auto Parts (cheapest in my area) and bolting the new one in, and I have had zero issue since, the car runs smoother, it can detect RPM's correctly and keep my car smoother at idle and while driving now. I hope my experience helps whoever may struggle with this not just in my year and model, but other makes and models too.
The sensor is located around the center of the engine block in the front, and you can find a video on youtube. I will attach pictures of where it is so it can help anyone out. I see a lot of complaints about this issue, and its quite common, and its more likely to go out on Hyundais and KIA's, and maybe they need to build these different somehow, but its a ten minute job with the right tools and making sure the engine is cooled off first.
Update from Sep 8, 2023: Timing belt was installed incorrectly, I had oil leaking from my engine and it turns out that my timing belt was installed 2 teeth off. THE CRANK SENSOR WAS DOING ITS JOB CORRECTLY AND SCREAMING GOD HELP ME. That failed install caused me every problem listed above.
