Consumer pulled from the vehicle after muffler over heater causing vehicle to catch fire. The cause of fire was perhaps due to faulty heat shields. At 27,000 the vehicle was serviced for an engine light and squeaking brakes.
The consumer had to be pulled from the vehicle after it caught fire. The engine light had come on and the brakes were squeaky. The vehicle was not placed in gear. The collision experts concluded that the muffler had overheated and perhaps faulty heat shields had caused an ignition in the interior of the vehicle which had obviously been accelerated when the vehicle's door was opened. (the interior was completely burnt down to the metal seat frames)
