This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
We brought this car in May 0F 1999. At 4,000 miles the transmission blew a large hole and almost caused us too have an accident. This problem was fixed for us, at no cost to us. Under warranty. On 12/30/99 we had the car towed to the dealer because the car was making a clicking noise. When they did an inspection they told us that the car need a new transmission. They told us that this time it was because of abuse. The car is driven by myself, my husband & also my son. This repair we had to pay for. My concern is that we think that Hyundai should honor the warranty, and refund us the money that we paid already for the repair. We think that this is a defect on the transmission and we should not have to pay for this.
