The control arms were severely rusted, when the mechanic removed them, they snapped in half. Hyundai fixed it under a recall. Also the oil pan and transmission pan had completely rusted.
On 8/28/01 I had to have the right lower control arm replaced because it rusted out from the inside out........on 5/7/02 I had to have the left lt lower control arm replaced becuase it rusted out also from the inside out...I was told this is very unusual for other cars but it seems to be a problem for the Hyundai Accents...this has cost me $565 for fault material used on this car......I love my car but I cant keep replacing defective materials.
The control arm bounces out of place, which causes the vehicle to be out of alignment/ tire to bald on the inside, and stress fracture to the frame. The manufacturer is aware of this problem. Problem has not been repaired.
