There is a bad Engine sound when starting up vehicle first time cold. The vehicle sits for hours and engine is cold - you will hear it again too. It's like when you do an oil change with new oil and filter and start the vehicle, you hear the ngine make a Fast Loud Rapping noise and go away. That's because it takes a couple of seconds for the oil to get pumped up to lubricate the valve train.
Now that's only 1 time during an oil change, but to have this everyday in cooler weather 50-60 degrees and colder? That's not so good for your Engine. I went to the dealership to complain and was told its NORMAL. That the oil has to circulate. WITH MY OLDER VEHICLES THIS WOULD HAPPEN BECAUSE OF AGE, SHORT ON OIL, OR A BAD OIL PUMP. Starting up a Dry engine is bad! When you rebuild any part of an engine you have to coat the engines with a special oil that heavy-duty that sticks and coats the Camshaft and valves so there's no metal to metal sound. That start up oil protects your first start up. I'm afraid in time the constant TAPPING, KNOCKING, RAPPING NOISE on start up will cause Engine problems sooner than later - summer time is here and it still does it.
The Engine Noise is heard when I was in front of vehicle and used auto start, and then the next day I had a friend start it again while I was in front. You can lift the hood and have someone start it, you can't definitely hear it. THERE SHOULD NEVER BE ANY ENGINE Tapping SOUND!! This will cause a problem!! I have 16000 miles on my 2022 Ridgeline RTL-E. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!!!!
