I bought a new 2017 Honda Fit on August 8. On December 8th, all of the warning lights went on, and when I took it to the dealer they told me rats had chewed through engine wiring. This is not covered under warranty and I have to pay $1000 in repairs. They obviously know this is an issue with the soy based coating they use, since they manufacture Capsaicin tape specifically to address the issue. Since I can't physically access all the wiring in the car, I'm not sure how this is supposed to solve the problem. My previous car was a 2003 Volkswagen that I parked in the same spot for years with no issue, nor has my husband had any issues with his 2003 Mitsubishi.

I'm concerned regarding the reports of soy based wiring and the attraction to being consumed by rodents.
