Ridgeline LX V6

Just bought this 2008 Honda Ridgeline with less that .148,000 miles on it, suddenly smoke coming out of the exhaust and its oil. Used 5 qts of oil in a 2 week period. Dealer replaced spark plug on this piston 2 times before I said I will NOT drive it any more until its fixed cause it started shaking, sluggish and no power. This is only 2 weeks after buying it. Thank GOD I bought extended warranties. Dealer took Honda to a certified mechanic they use and it has a HOLE..... a FRICKIN' HOLE in the piston.

Honda does not have any recalls or law suits involving the 2008 Ridgeline even though it was using oil like it was water but other Honda's were reported. NOW this same shop has 2nd Honda in for the same problem,,a HOLE in the piston. Strange??? I have reported it to Honda and have a case number that hopefully their engineer will review. The warranty company is sending an adjuster and we want the head REPLACED not milled. Milling the single piston will change the compression of the motor and will cause fall out or domino affect with other things like O2 sensor, spark plug firing possibly another piston failure.

HONDA needs to review the manufacturing of pistons for the 6 cylinder motors and pull stock that failed

Ridgeline RT 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

Oil consumption is variable to 1 qt per 1000 miles. Sometimes minimal. Exclusively use synthetic oil, various brands. Have settled on PP. Change oil and filter every 5000 miles until 150,000. Changed to 0W-20 based on dealer recommendation. Then, based on oil analysis, extended to every 8000 miles. Mileage city = 11 mpg. Hwy = 17-19 mpg. Oil analysis (Blackstone Lab) says engine wear is perfect. Do I have a problem or not? Thank you.
