- Cabine Rear Panel - Risk Of Falling Apart Always, Simple Fix - I kept hearing a shaking noise behind the rear of the cabin when I drove above 68-70+ mph, found it was the rear brake panel. Simple fix. Any honda dealer has the grommets and clips, cost around $30 for the whole set. I replaced them and no problem since.

My 2008 Honda Ridgeline truck is in very good shape, garage kept, well maintained, with only 72k mi. We were driving the speed limit or less north on I-83 from DE to PA, at night in the rain. We heard a flap-rip sound, and thought it was the (after market) bed cover flapping at the cab corner, because a cover clip had weakened there during this highway drive from GA to PA, allowing the cover to flap in wind, and needed refastening whenever we stopped for gas, a complaint for later. It was the next morning in the light when we realized the entire cab top-rear panel (break light, wiring & all) had dislodged completely off the truck in the wind, and decided that was probably the ripping sound we heard on I-83 the night before, though we did not know at the time, and pray no danger resulted behind us. We took the truck back to our Piazza Honda dealer where it was purchased, to see what they could do to compensate, which wasn't much. They said there was no recall, that they never heard of the problem, and offered only a fifty dollar discount off the $400 material, but would charge full labor. We are instead having a local mechanic order the part at discount and replace the panel at less cost, because the light is needed, and we have temporary tape over the wiring holes on each side for protection. This is a manufacturer's defect, and should be recalled! No market body part should just fly off the truck, especially when it can result in accidents, injury, and maybe even death! We might file a lawsuit. My thanks goes to the the person traveling through Texas who reported same problem first on this website.
