I discovered my Pilot was repeatedly trying to start itself as though the ignition button was being repeatedly pressed (off -> run -> accessory -> off). This would include all of the electrical systems cycling, and even the alarm going off. The only way to prevent this from continuing was to disconnect the battery. The car was able to be driven to the dealership, though starting it was very difficult, and while driving it seemed Ok.
Here is where the issue got really bad. According to Honda, the issue is with the key fob antenna module, and replacing it should fix the issue. The problem is, this is a part that only Honda can provide, and must be "matched" to the car (i.e. must be a new O.E.M. part). Further, Honda cannot seem to source this part anywhere claiming "supply issues" and that their "supplier" has it on back order. They have had my car for almost five months now and have made no progress in finding or supplying a part. They have pushed back the ETA four times now, only citing that their "supplier" is "experiencing delays". Current ETA is 6/8/23 (today is 5/9/23), though given their track record I very much doubt they will have the part by then. Honda will not attempt any further diagnosis until they have tried this replacement, meaning that in the event this part does not fix the issue I will likely have to wait even longer for a different part. Considering Honda is very capable of continuing to source parts for their new vehicles I do not understand why they cannot source a replacement part.
For the garage's part they are trying to do right by me. They have provided me with a comparable, though not equivalent loaner (~2021 Passport), and have tried to keep things moving from their end.
