Auto Idle Stop Does Not Work
2016 Honda Pilot
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Honda dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: It's worrying when the top category for 2016 Honda Pilot problems are transmission problems. Owners report jerking when accelerating. Also as the first model year of the redesigned 3rd generation Pilot, it's not a good sign.
Honda released a TSB on October 29 2016 that's possibly related. The TSB deals with a "a judder from the torque converter lock-up clutch ... while driving between 20 and 60 mph" due to deteriorated transmission fluid resulting from "specific driving conditions". In the TSB, Honda states they are developing a software fix to try to keep the transmission fluid temperature within spec.
We are keeping a close eye on this defect trend because if certain driving conditions can affect transmission shifting in the first year of ownership, we'd hate to think what 10+ years will do.

My car is already schedule for an up coming recall next month. I am disputing a previous payment I had made of an Diagnostic of $135 back in June 2021.
I had brought my 2016 Pilot to get look at for the same reason and Commonwealth Honda Motors Service Dept. never found the problem with the auto restart entering auto idle stop! I have been dealing with this issue since 2021 is now 03/23 and a recall comes out on the same problem. I just received a call from American Honda Motor's stating that they were not going to reimburse for my Diagnostic fee I had paid due to this same issue. The mechanic at Commonwealth Honda said there was no problem with the vehicle he said it was normal. Its been 2 years and I've been dealing with the same situation. I am a single mom of 3 have two jobs and had to take time of my job to bring car to get looked at in many occasions and was told there was nothing wrong with the vehicle! Still happening when in complete stop car does not start goes to neutral then I need to put to park and turn on car again it can be very unsafe especially stop in a busy street.
This has been my complaint since summer of 2021 and Now there's a recall on the same concern I've been having. When I received the recall correspondence I called the recall department and explained my concerns, they advised me to send in proof of my payments related to this recall.
I summited all proofs and got denied my reinbursment (case #13700434)
