Problem: While driving on the interstate (in a construction zone with no shoulders), and with no prior indications the van gave numerous alerts to include blind spot monitoring and transmission service. The gear indicator on the dash (-??D-??) began flashing. I had zero throttle response and began coasting. I was able to gain some forward response by cycling between sport mode and drive while fluttered the gas pedal to match when the gear indicator would flash. If I miss timed it, the engine would rev as if it was in neutral. Using this method, I was only able to maintain 40 MPH. Luckily the next available exit had a Honda dealership and I was able to limp the van into the service department. Safety concern: Without the quick troubleshooting to at least maintain speed for a viable exit/shoulder, the van would of stopped on a very busy interstate that has average speeds of 75+ MPH. It would have surely caused an accident that could of led to serious injuries or death. Diagnosis: Numerous service techs came out to look at the van since I pulled in with my hazards on. At least 2 stated they had seen the problem previously on 2022+ Odyssey-??s and to expect it to need a full transmission replacement. Service advisor is suppose to call on Monday with more details and I will update here accordingly. Other information: 13.5k miles on the vehicle and no major mechanical issues prior to this event. Vehicle is regularly serviced at a Honda dealership.

The car was purchased new, and wasn-??t even a year old. We were driving on the highway and all the sudden the engine revved. The car would no longer accelerate. We were able to pull off the highway safely but the car would not accelerate more than a few miles per hour. There were no warning lights or indications of an issue with the car. The car was towed to Honda and a new transmission was installed.

We were driving with less than 1500 miles on the car on the interstate at roughly 70 miles an hour. Out of nowhere, the gears began slipping and when pressing the accelerator, RPMs revved to high levels but there was no acceleration as if we were driving in neutral. We were able to coast to the side of the interstate and down an off ramp. After restarting the vehicle, a litany of orange warning lights came on. Gears continued to slip resulting in the car being towed to a nearby Honda dealership where the transmission was completed replaced (Again, with less than 1500 miles on the car). This was a significant safety issue with three children in the car where we could not accelerate while driving at 70 MPH on the interstate. Numerous instances of this problem have been identified in the last 4 months alone.

We purchased our 2022 Honda Odyssey mini van less than a month ago. We drove it off the lot at I think 20 miles? All was great, we love the van. Until-?? I drove from The Colony to Justin. We were having our floors redone and I needed to take our toddler and infant away each day while our house was worked on. I was going to go back and forth Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It was our first -??long-?? trip as we don-??t really go anywhere due to Covid. The van drove great Until we came home Thursday evening. I was 25 miles into our trip, driving 75 mph keeping up with the traffic on 121 and all a sudden my van had a huge thud jerk like as if I hit a curb and then I lost all acceleration. I hit the gas and all that happened was the RPMs would skyrocket but no power. My speed went from 75 to 40 to 20 within seconds. I-??m in the middle lane with cars speeding past and a semi coming up behind me. I AM SCARED!! I quickly call my husband while I attempt to get to to shoulder. I finally get over and I put the van in park. Cars are going so fast that the van is shaking anytime a car goes by. I put the van in drive in hopes to get to an exit. Absolutely NO acceleration. I KNEW this was a transmission issue. I was able to coast off to the next exit and into a parking lot. I had it towed to the dealer. Upon first inspection they said nothing was wrong with it. I told them to keep checking because there was something major wrong with it. A few hours later they called and said my transmission was being replaced and that Honda was aware of some issues with this year-??s transmission. I asked if there was a recall yet as this was dangerous. They said no. I feel that-??s extremely unsafe to continue to sell these vans without disclosing the known transmission issue. I feel quite cheated that I was allowed to buy a $40000 without any disclosure of a potential issue. We would have waited to buy a van then. Very very unethical

Car won't shift gear. We were stuck on the highway which was obviously not safe. Turned off the engine, after a while started it and car was able to shift partially with lots of weird noises and only drove slowly. When we wanted to put in reverse to enter the driveway it did not respond once again and we were stuck in the middle of the road for a few minutes. Luckily no cars went by at the time. The car is ONE AND A HALF MONTHS OLD and has less than 500 MILES on it. This was crazy scary

We were driving our 2022 Honda Odessey Elite Van going 70 mph when the transmission shifted into neutral without warning on a busy interstate causing the van to no longer accelerate. We thankfully were able to coast to the shoulder, but we were unable to get the car to accelerate after the fact. There were no warning lights or indicator lights of any kind that went off leading up to the transmission failing. The car was towed to a local dealer (we were 4 hours from home) who confirmed that there was an issue with the transmission gears "miss numbering" and the transmission needed to be fully replaced after only 2,000 miles on the car. This is a significant safety issue given this occurred without warning and while the car was traveling at a high rate of speed. It not only put us as the drivers of the car at risk, but others on the road. Our car is still in the shop and the replacement of the transmission is in progress. I have seen others post of the exact same issue in online forums and it does not appear to be an isolated incident with the 2022 models.

I got a 2022 Honda Odessy towing only for 1 month with $1,500. Today, it started to shake when I tried to perform on the oil pedals. The rpm needles on the dashboard starting oscillating very quickly between gears. I can not accelerate rather than hearing a loud noise. The infotainment system froze at least 2 to 3 xs. 3. the rpm needles started oscillating very quickly, the car started shifting gears and making loud sounds. "Transmission system problem" shows on the dashboard and "blink spot information system failed problem" shows up as well. Eventually, I successfully moved the car to the sidewalk grass. It would be very dangerous if there were more traffic since it was responding to the oil pedal. The car was towered to my local Honda dealer this evening. I just can not believe a new honda odyssey broke down on the way in the first 1,500 miles. Luckily, it did not happen on the highway.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The transmission malfunctioned and is currently being replaced by the dealership. New transmission was ordered from Honda. Case ticket (12339737) has been opened with Honda America regarding this issue. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk" Driving on highway going 80 MPH. Van slows down to 50 MPH without warning and won't go any faster during rush hour. Luckily, no cars were behind us which they could have rear ended us. Was able to exit highway and pull into gas station. Test drive on local street and van won't go beyond 4th gear even with manual settings. Go back to gas station to park and van won't go in reverse. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, dealership confirm issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? UNKNOWN. Dealership is replacing transmission but don't know if Honda will come to inspect the part or not. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear" Cruise control was on at the time of issue and appear it wasn't able to pick up cars in front so it would slow down at random times.

We were exiting from one freeway to another. As we approached the exit ramp, the vehicle began to decelerate and the engine began revving. We managed to pull over to the narrow shoulder, to allow traffic to pass. We turned the vehicle off, hoping is was a simple glitch in the computer. We restarted the car and encountered the same problem. We managed to limp the vehicle to the end of the entrance ramp and called Honda Roadside Assistance. They had the vehicle towed to the dealer we had purchased it from. There were no warning lamps or indications of an issue prior to this 4 days later, the service department called. The had driven it, encountered the same issue, inspected it, and determined that the entire transmission needed to be replaced. Had this occurred while we were in the middle lane rather than the exit lane, given the amount of traffic at the time, it would likely have caused multiple accidents.

We were driving on M-14 EB, merging onto I-275 N. As we approached the exit ramp, the vehicle began to decelerate as the engine wildly revved. We pulled over the the very narrow shoulder of the exit ramp, as to allow traffic to pass and turned the vehicle off, in hopes that it was simply a computer glitch. We re-started the vehicle and encountered the same problem. There were no warning lamps or indications of a problem. We managed to limp it slowly to the end of the ramp where we called Honda Roadside Assistance. We had it towed to the dealer we bought it from. Their service department called 3 days later, saying they had driven it, had the same problem, and verified that the entire transmission had failed and required replacement. We had taken deliver of this vehicle just a week earlier. It only had 212 miles on it. Had that transmission failed while we were in the center lane, with the amount of traffic at the time, it would have likely caused an accident. We were VERY lucky.

2022 Honda Odyssey ex-L with 10 speed automatic transmission. Vehicle owned fewer than 24 hours. Purchased with 3 miles on odometer, with 130 miles on odometer when incident occurred while traveling southbound on I75 in Ohio, vehicle was in motion cruising at 70 miles per hour. Suddenly vehicle started slowing down and engine started revving but no forward motion. Pulled over to side of road on shoulder and turned engine off for five minutes to let cool down. Restarted vehicle and when merging after fourth gear, engine exhibited same condition of no engagement between transmission and engine. Luckily was able to pull into rest area one mile from where the Odyssey started exhibiting the condition. Called roadside assistance and local Honda dealer who diagnosed condition following day of above approximately 40 miles per hour, engine and transmission are not engaged and engine revs without forward motion. Dealership stated vehicle requires transmission replacement per Honda technical.
