2019 Honda ex-L has exhibited a knocking noise from idle to around 2000 RPM under load since new. The vehicle currently has 10,000 miles and has been to 3 separate Honda dealerships a total of 7 times. Honda can replicate the engine knock, but has refused to take the actions necessary to diagnose the cause. The vehicle has been reviewed by a 3rd party ase certified mechanic that cited the noise is not normal.

On November 11, 2019, I sent my Honda Odyssey to a Honda dealer for maintenance. Everything went normally. After the maintenance, I drove my car back home. Every day, I go to work and work normally. About 10 days after the maintenance, the engine light suddenly turns on. After the car was turned on, the engine lights returned to normal. Every day when I went to work, I found that there was a pool at the bottom of the front of the car. I wonder if it was water or oil" I didn't care too much just after finishing the maintenance. In the state of the car, I drove it for another week. At the end, the engine light made a sound and I checked that my engine oil was almost gone. It's hard to believe. The engine oil that I just finished maintenance was gone within 20 days. This is too scary. The engine ran out of oil. I had driven for so many days. It's just killing. I returned the car to a Honda dealer for inspection, but just helped me fill up the engine oil without any explanation. This way I can't accept it. Please help me defend my rights. What causes the loss of engine oil" find out later I'm afraid I'll die. At present, the right rear tire of the car shows that the air pressure is not enough. I checked that the tires are not piercing, and I also performed a lot of air refills, which did not work. It should show that the air pressure is insufficient. Thank you for auditing my issue to help me complete my rights. Now I think that the engine is scared without oil.

Initially the vehicle would randomly turn off while driving, it was not the idle stop since it is deactivated before driving. The dealer eventually said it was the battery. Then the infotainment system stopped working, the radio was replaced after a week of being at the dealer. Now 3 weeks after repair, the infotainment system does not work. Has a noise that comes out of the speakers like sparks, has a chemical smell, no res usage, no cabin watch or cabin talk. Everything that made the elite trim desired does not work.

While driving at low speed in the process of shifting between 3 and 4th gear van shifts very hard. So much so that at times my body is thrusted forward which causes me to momentarily lose sight of road. While shifting it seems to vehicle seems lunge at higher speed. This occurs at low RPM and will usually occur when speed hits 24mph. Hard shift also occurs when slowing down but not as common. This occurs when driving on stop and go traffic when it requires driving at lower speeds. When vehicle was 1st purchased this was not experienced, it was until after 6 months that this started occurring. Had dealership look at vehicle and they were able to replicate issue and informed me that vehicle was operating as intended. I also contacted Honda North America and they said they couldn't help since dealership said it was operating normally. They suggested I review my consumer rights brochure if I wanted to take additional action. There are various post online with exact same issue. My concern is safety of my family and feel there is flaw in the design which Honda is not willing to accept responsibility nor willing to fix the issue

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. While driving more than 20 to 25 mph, the vehicle jerked and stalled. Nalley Honda (4197 jonesboro rd, union city, ga 30291, (404) 994-4321) stated that there was no failure; however, the failure recurred a week later. The contact believed that the dealer had performed some repairs and did not tell her. The contact researched online and saw multiple complaints from others experiencing the same failure. The dealer contacted the manufacturer and informed the contact that the manufacturer had never heard of this type of failure. The contact suspected that the failure was related to the transmission. The failure mileage was 800. The VIN was unknown.

Car has under 7000 miles. Engine struggles with power in lower gears. There is also a jump when shifting from reverse to forward. The jump feel like a transmission gear transfer issue. Today as an example, when departing from a traffic light, I had to fully compress the gas pedal to get the engine to respond. In general, the lower gears feel sluggish and this has been the case since purchase. The engine simply sounds different than any of our previous Honda Odyssey's. at higher speeds, on a highway, the engine is responsive. We're in a do loop with mechanics as the problem is not always repeatable. Hope this helps if you start seeing trends.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. While stopped, the vehicle hesitated when attempting to switch to a higher gear to accelerate. Ocean Honda of North hollywood (5841 lankershim blvd, North hollywood, ca 91601, (888) 282-4550) could not duplicate the failure and returned the vehicle to the contact. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and the vehicle was driven daily. The manufacturer was contacted and provided a case number. The contact was waiting for a callback from a case manager. The contact believed the manufacturer did not feel the failure was a safety issue. The failure mileage was 3,000. Consumer stated three times trans failed "shift" into higher gear.

  • 177 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

After a week of driving a brand new Honda Odyssey 2019, with 177 mileage, the car had transmission problems, blind spot info system problem, and emission system problem. As I was exiting the freeway, I noticed the car was not accelerating when I pushed the gas pedal. When the gas pedal was pushed, I saw the RPM increased to 5000-6000R/min and I heard loud vroom noise coming our from my car. While the car still had some momentum right off the freeway, I made two right turn and came to a complete stop at the stop sign near my apartment. This incident happened at around 8:30pm, and other cars had to drive around us. My wife and two toddlers were in the car with me. We were very frightened by this incident as we could not believe an engine/transmission failure can happened to a brand new Honda car with only 177 mileage.

On December 19, 2018, the day after we had the maintenance and brake fluid repaired, we were driving the car on a freeway. Suddenly, the car shook wildly for a moment and thick white smoke started to issue from the car. To make matters worse, the accelerator did not work, so our car could only reach speed up to 25 miles per hour, much slower than the other cars honking and racing past us on the freeway. We barely made it to the next exit, where we had to park at the nearest gas station to check what was going on. We were under extreme danger and stress from this incident as it happened in the middle of the road and we were extremely close to colliding with other cars. Honestly, no words can dare to express the fear and dread of imminent death we experienced that time. We thought we were going to be crushed to death at that moment. After a few minutes in a nearby parking lot, when we started the car again, the check engine light was gone, and the accelerator started working normally. However, although the problem has seemed to have 'gone away' for now, we do not know when or where it may occur again. It scares us that the car seems so innocently normal again.

Upon startup of the vehicle, a strong burning smell was sensed. The vehicle was briefly put into a slow reverse to take it out of the garage and a very rough idle started, black smoke appeared out of the tail pipe and every possible error message appeared one after the other on the dash. The vehicle was then briefly put into drive for a couple inches forward back into the garage with very little power on acceleration and an even stronger burning smell. The dealer was contacted and advised having the car towed in to be evaluated. Upon evaluation the dealer advised that the issue was a leaking fuel injector caused by a faulty fuel rail design from the factory. The injector leak caused too much fuel to be put into the cylinder causing the spark plugs to fowl out. The dealer stated Honda was aware of the issue also in 2018 models and they assumed they would have corrected the fuel rail design for the 2019 model. The dealer then advised that they could not make any repair until the redesigned fuel rail was released a month from now. The vehicle was purchased new 2 months ago and currently has apx 5,000 miles. The fact that this was caused by an error in the fuel rail design from the factory indicates the problem likely has been causing damage and posing a safety risk of possible engine fire from the leaking fuel injector the entire 5,000 miles of ownership. Also, it is unknown how the leak may affect the engine in the future due to the leak and design flaw persisting since it was sold new from the factory.

(event 1 and 2 happened 10 minutes apart) our new van shifts in the park while driving at highway speeds (62 mph). We took it to freeway Honda the first time and they were unable to render any errors, so the vehicle was returned to us. (event 3) occurred on 12/16/2018 around 11:42 am. We were driving near the 405/5 Y merge and the car suddenly shifted into park. We were able to capture this event on video and here is the direct youtube link to the event: Https://youtu.be/kiztkmoyi-M. car is currently at the Honda dealer where they stated they will replace the transmission. There is also a "crash mitigation error" that appears in our instrument panel from time to time that the dealership is unable to reproduce and cannot fix.

1. 2nd row driver and passenger seats do not "lock" into place when folded forward, creating a "free flying" seat when driving/in motion and an entrapment issue when parked for 3rd row passengers attempting to exit the 3rd row. This is specially dangerous on a hill. My 3 year old has been hit and injured by the seat on a several occasions. 2. engine lurches and stalls while in motion. Stalling causes potential risk for accident. 3. driver and passenger sliding door will not open on occasion. This means getting 2nd and 3rd row passengers out of trunk or climbing through to driver/passenger seat. All of these have been brought to the attention of the dealership, they cannot reproduce 1 and 3. had no solution for #2 (a simple locking addition to the seat footing would fix #2, Toyota sienna's lock on place)
