Since purchase of the 2018 Odyssey, it will repeatedly delay when accelerating, like it won't shift into gear. This is especially dangerous when turning onto a road with traffic. It almost feels like the transmission is slipping, but my gut says it is a computer problem.
At 39,000 miles, when accelerating onto an interstate, it shifted on its own into neutral and shut down. The error message was "transmission problem" and also "emissions control problem". When I pushed the ignition button, it again suddenly went into neutral and shut down. After waiting a few minutes, I pushed the ignition button again, and the transmission problem was cleared. The emission control problem stayed for a day, then it cleared on its own.
Also, once when on cruise control, it started to accelerate quickly into a vehicle ahead of me because it did not recognize that it was there.
As an older driver, I was able to handle these events without issue, but at the same time they were sudden and scary, and it could have gone badly had I been in different circumstances.
