Static on HD Radio

The static on hd radio is an intermittent problem. It adds sound to the existing music that is playing. When changing stations, analog radio will sound fine, but the problem will begin a few seconds later once it receives the HD transmission. The honda dealer has replaced every component including the head unit itself. Antennas, sound cancellation system, etc. They have told me that the issue is due to having an iPhone hooked up via blue tooth, and that the iphone somehow takes over the system and does weird things. We also noticed in a couple of cases that it seemed to have the static only come out on the drivers side and no treble came out of the right speakers (so weird, right?!).

This is an unacceptable problem/explanation as iphone users are approximately 47% of the marketshare of smartphones!

I deleted the bluetooth profile completely to test this theory. Sure enough, no static! Hooked the phone back up after about two weeks since I need to use my phone handsfree (it's against the law if you don't!), and the problem started back up again.

I have had other weird issues with apple car play, such as the sound "Skipping" when using the Apple Maps Navigation. The Sirius XM will crash and stop working.

I'm sharing my story in hopes that Honda will work on this programming issue and get this fixed!

Erratic behavior in the infotainment system. Occasionally a message will pop up stating the system is not available. It will not keep correct time unless my iPhone is plugged in. The left channel of the auxiliary audio input is very weak. Have tried various devices and cables; no remedy. Other sporadic error messages on occasion. Have not taken to dealer due to warranty expiration and treatment over transmission replacement.

infotainment system not working properly

Been at this since leasing the vehicle back in July of 2018 from Northern Honda. Not only did we discover undisclosed damage to the tailgate, coincidentally, 3 days after taking possession, the Infotainment System malfunctioned. This has occurred at least 15 times since then and has been brought back to the dealership 7 times for several weeks at a time.

Occasionally, but seemingly total randomly, when you start the engine the Infotainment System simply chooses to not initialize rendering many of the systems unusable, including safety features such as Lane Assist, Back Up Cameras, Radio, GPS, ECS and Phone connectivity. I have 3 teenage sons so their reaction is not pretty on longer trips as the UBS charging ports have also stopped working.

We have escalated the issue to Honda Canada but their response has been very condescending refusing to acknowledge the existence of the issue. They have used terms such as "clients contention of an issue" and "an issue may exist" even after having received photos and videos of the van in the "failed condition". Their position is simply that they are doing, what they are contractually obligated to do. they even said all they have to do is to continue to attempt to fix the Van and further there is no limit on the number of times we have to bring it in for another attempt.

The infotainment on this car really sucks. It has a mind of its own. And, to add insult to injury the whole thing froze rendering the infotainment useless. Went to the dealer to do a hard reset since there was no way in the world that everything else I could have tried worked. The Dealer informed that the infotainment is a known issue yet nothing has been done to fix it. Recently, it simply refused to shut off. This is a brand new car and having problems like these says a lot about the quality of the accessories.
