A year after I had the rotors resurfaced, same exact thing happened again. Super annoying. Called dealer, this is not covered under warranty. They didn't want to hear me complain and they are a pretty nice dealer, so they resurfaced again, for free. Can't complain about service I am getting, but having to get this fixed is a nightmare each year.

The shuddering from warped brakes is a continual problem. Resurface, replace do it again over and over. Never had this happen to any car I've owned including the 2004 Odyssey we've driven to 260,000 miles. You can plan on replacing the front brakes every 8-12 months. Awesome, NOT! I asked the dealer if this is a known reoccurring problem and does Honda have a fix. Why yes it is a known problem but no there is no help/fix from Honda...too much of a money maker I guess.

Now I'm on my 3rd rotor turn in 4 years. This should NOT be happening. I am a mom that at most drives to and from school and the grocery store. I don't live in a hilly region and I don't drive at high rates of speed and slam on the brakes. This is crazy! The craziest part is that my brake pads are fine. How is that possible?!?! Honda needs to resolve this design flaw!

This was my first of 4 rotor issues (so far!) with this vehicle. My father has a GMC pickup with 200,000 miles on it and he's only had to turn the rotors ONCE. I should not be turning the rotors every 20,000 miles! I truly believe there is a design flaw that is causing this problem and Honda should be recalling this.

I have been a Honda owner for the past 20+ years, never had this problem on any of the vehicles. Started noticing shaking while braking on the very next year around 15000 miles, it really got worse and finally took action to resurface the rotors around 24000 miles. Every time I pointed this problem to the dealer, they keep saying it has to do with our driving. But, I never had any problems with any of my Honda's before, so, it's definitely has nothing to do with my driving to say the least.

The bottom line is, I never really enjoyed the drive on this van, it's annoying and painful. My 14 year hold Pilot feels much better when I brake. There is definitely something wrong with Odyssey rotors, Honda should take a serious look at them and provide a solution to resolve the issue.

We bought this vehicle spring of 2013 and there's been a shakiness to the car whenever going down hills. Recently, we've noticed a skidding when braking relatively quickly. Finally brought it into the shop for the 50,000 mile oil change/service. As we suspected, the van needed new brakes.

Our old vehicle was a Nissan Quest. Never had any trouble with the van, even for seven years. We got rear ended during that time and still only had repair costs. No other trouble. If there's wear and tear at 50,000, what will it be like at 100,000? What about in three years? Will it be worth anything when trading it in?

Driving home from the mountains, down snowy icy hills, rotors did their thing. Shaky and wobbly. Thought we were going to go off the side. Reaching my threshhold for this rotor crap. Called my local dealer, who has been great. Told them I knew this was an issue on this model and wanted them replaced. Again, told not a warranty issue, had a little back and forth and once again they were resurfaced. I will be back next year I guess.

The steering wheel would vibrate when braking. Honda said the brakes and roters needed to be replaced. I took it to a private repair shop to have it done - I trusted them over honda. He said they see it all the time because the roters are too small for the weight of the vehicle. It will continue to happen until they increase the size, which there isn't room for in the 2013 model.

Why haven't these been recalled?? Or covered by warranty at the least!!!!

Vibration was began almost immediately after purchase in 2013. Continually got worse until it was necessary to ask dealer to fix the problem. We were told that the rotors were not covered for replacement under the warranty, but they could turn them which they did. It only helped for a few months and the vibration began again. I know from other complaints from other people that Honda will do nothing to correct problem other than charge me to replace the discs with the same design as before. My understanding from talking to mechanics that Honda designed the discs without allowing for a way for them to dissipate the heat and this causes them to warp and cause the uncontrollable vibration. I believe Honda should recall them and replace the discs with a better design. This is my first Honda and may be my last.

When the vibration when braking (moderately) from speed (50+) started, I thought it had something to do with the anti-lock braking system, but I must be wrong! My concern is whether this is a safety issue - what happens if I have to brake HARD at speed (50+) - am I at risk of losing control of the car?

Bought new 2013 Honda Odyssey April 30, 2013. Had had a wonderful 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan for 10 yrs with 232,000 miles and little to no problems, but friends and relatives recommended Honda. When I picked it up new, it was the worse car I had ever driven. Took to service 3 or 4 times when they finally found a part not correctly connected in factory and fixed it.

At 13 months it started shaping when brakes were used. Asked about it and was told I need new brakes at cost of $600. I told them they were crazy. Took it to a private mechanic who said he did not think it was dangerous, so continued to drive it (my mistake). Finally had my mechanic fix it, but it only lasted a short time.

Now the car is 3 yrs old, shakes violently when brakes are used, especially between 40 and 30 mph. Honda service tells me that the odyssey is a "heavy" car and will need new brakes about every 25,000 miles and that this is normal. I do not feel this is normal, in fact, I think for what this car cost new, and for the rating this vehicle gets, Honda should be concerned and want to help. I must be dreaming.

I want to know what the real problem is, why only some Odysseys have this problem (none of my friends have it), how to properly fix it, and if anyone had had any luck dealing with Honda to get any help (how did you get Honda to help). Please help-I need info and am not sure what to do. I did also purchase from the dealership the extended warranty at the time of purchase.

Odyssey Touring 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,156 miles

Our brand new Honda Odyssey touring has developed a "pain in the ass" level of steering wheel shaking/shudder when braking from most speeds above 40 mph. We do not abuse the brakes in any way, yet these appear to be made of inferior or substandard materials. With less than 20k miles, the brake rotors are in need of either replacement ( with larger or at very least better quality pieces) or the temporary fix of getting them turned on a lathe. Less than 20k miles of not hard use is inexcusable in my opinion! Honda should be forced to replace these poor quality rotors with better ones!

Van had to have rotors replaced 45,000 miles after turning them at 35,000 miles. The van was shaking severely. One rotor was completely bad on the passenger side. The other rotor wasn't warn as badly and could have been used for another 5-10k miles but what was the point once they were off.

Odyssey LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 35,000 miles

At 35k miles, had to replace break pads and have rotors turned due to shaking of steering wheel when breaking. This seems early to have to turn rotors on a vehicle and from what I have read, this is not uncommon on these vans. I bought a Honda for its quality but now I am worried that I may have made a mistake.

In every 10,000 miles driving, braking makes a severe vibrating of steering wheel.

Today my car's odometer shows 30,650. So far I got 2 services for pads replace and rotors resurface.

Dealer said the reason of vibrating is rotors warped.

Is it possible this happens in every 10,000 miles driving?

Odyssey EX-L 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,500 miles

At 20,000 miles this car began shaking when braking. Around 30,000 miles the dealer agreed to turn the rotors, but said they would do it only this once. Helped for a short time, but by 40,000 miles, vibration when braking is unbearable. Honda has a MAJOR problem with rotors. I experienced similar problems years ago with both an Accord and a Honda Station Wagon. I thought that was normal for any car. Then I bought a Chrysler Town & Country, which I drove for 167,000 miles. NEVER had a problem with the Town & Country. My husband has had several Toyotas and never a problem. I had forgotten about this problem by the time I purchased my 2013 Odyssey. Love the car, but the violent shakes when braking drive me insane. I'm sick of it, and shelling out $600 to replace all rotors (after market) & pads (Honda).

Don't have to put up with this. Will definitely be looking at Town & Country & others for my next minivan!

Can you believe it in 30,650 miles driving car?
