As mentioned by others, there is a class action suit that will provide you coverage, just do your homework. After we experienced this failure I did research and found what I believed to be the problem mentioned in a Technical Service Bulletin. I approached the dealership armed with information and was able to find resolution with Honda and they performed the repairs at no cost. I have spoken to friends that were not so fortunate and had to pay nearly $5k for the repair. Shame on you Honda for not honoring the repair from and unknowing patron.

My best advice for any problem with a Honda is to do your homework and mention any applicable TSBs to show that you are well advised so they don't take advantage of you.

After our experience with this vehicle, I will stay away from Honda.

Came into local Honda dealer (Hoen Honda Carlsbad, CA) needing an oil change and had a diagnostic light on. The cost was $115 to check the diagnostic light. They reported the diagnostic light was indicating low oil pressure. During the oil change they only drained 2 quarts so I had burned 2.5 quarts in about 5k miles of driving. That seemed extremely excessive and the service advisor notified me I should be checking my oil between changes and burning 1 quart per 1k miles was "normal". I was shocked. This did not seem normal to me. I left and paid my bill. Did a little research online and it turns out Honda had a class action lawsuit for V-6 and V-4 engines with variable cylinder management having excessive oil consumption. It also has a service bulletin (13-081) for my specific vehicle. None of this information was disclosed to me by the dealer. I was simply told to check my oil between changes and everything was "normal". I consider this very deceptive by the dealer.
