Just purchased the Van in July and noticed the Transmission issues. Took three trips to dealer to have it looked at and twice they re-programmed the unit. Just last month in November they called me to bring van back in for re-programming the new firmware. That corrected the problem :) Now I really feel the downshifting:( every time you slow down you can feel the van downshift thru the gears. Dealer said that is normal since I've been a Dodge Caravan owner for years. (Not so Funny) My Truck 2500HD shifts smoother than the Honda???? Anyway just live with it until warranty ends and I guess the Transmission will go to Hell like all vehicle do after the warranty ends? Dealer just tells me again that is how it is.

I bought my Honda Odyssey 2009 EX model at McGrath Honda of St. Charles. By buying a brand new van, wasn't paying attention at the time how van was performing. Then problems started to be more noticeable. I took the van to the dealer where I bought the car and they did not want to do anything the transmission problem until there was a recall. We got a recall and we took the van back. Dealer said they have to reprogram the transmission and the problem will be gone. "In your DREAMS!!" problems only started. I took the van back to the dealer I bought from and he kept the van for four days and came up to the concluding because EX model does not have ECO that's why we are feeling the jerking and downshifting. I took the van to another dealer Valley Honda of Aurora. They tried to fix it. Dealer replaced Shift Solenoids. Problem remains the same. We went back the next day(11/06/10) to address the problem again and the dealer took the van for the road test and told us he will e-mail test to the Honda and will get back to us. Since that day(11/06/10) we haven't heard from Valley Honda of Aurora. At that time the car still had problems. We also have complained filed with Honda,Inc in California. We haven't heard from them either. Even though they have people who are supposed to help customers like me, and others but Honda is just wasting money on people like Ron Robins in customer service in California.

DO NOT BUY HONDA ODYSSEY'S. New 2009 Honda Odyssey with 5000 miles. Dealer has had to upgrade the transmission software twice and replaced the torque converter one to attempt to eliminate a transmission/vehicle vibration issue. Steering wheel shakes when moved off center and vibrates at highway speeds. Tires rotated, balanced, etc. Both problems still present with no improvement. Honda regional manager explained this is a design issue and that all Odyssey's will exhibit these issues!!! Both sliding doors rattled severely, now they just squeak. Dealer won't touch the vehicle anymore to prevent Lemon Law from becoming effective. Drive vehicle on smooth roads and YOU WILL notice these issues.

Brand new 2009 Honda Odyssey EX!!! Vehicle was ordered from another dealer. Drive vehicle from dealer and immediately noticed a vibration at around 40 MPH and abrupt shifting. Returned the vehicle to dealer to voice concern and they state there is nothing wrong with car. Drive home and noticed that all four door squeak and rattle. Return the car to dealer and they report they know exactly what it is and attempt to fix it. Complained again about transmission and they again stated there is nothing wrong with vehicle. Return vehicle a few weeks later to adjust improperly adjusted glove box and complained about transmission again. Mechanic drives vehicle and immediately agrees with the transmission concerns and states there is a software "fix". He verified the vehicle records in his computer and it showed the software "fix" was implemented during one of the previous visits without my consent or notification. The mechanic also reported that there have been numerous vans with the same problems and the ones not "fixed" by the software required a new torque converter!!!! I still haven't decided what to do. I have contacted a lawyer who apparently is working with numerous clients about filing a class action lawsuit. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
