From what I'm seeing online there's been issues of varying degrees with odyssey doors from 2000 to even current 2018 models.
I understand there's wearable parts that need replaced sometimes. And if it's out of warranty in normal cases.
Like if you didn't follow replacing the timing belt and you ruin your motor, I surely would say Honda is not at fault.
But in the case of sliding doors not operating...
I'M SAYING THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF FIX THAT YOUR DOORS CANT FLY OPEN WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD.
THERE ARE MANY ISSUES THAT SHOW UP DIRECTLY RELATED IN SOMEWAY OR ANOTHER TO THESE STUPID ASS POWER DOORS. WHEN ITS SO OBVIOUS THIS IS WITH MULTIPLE YEARS.
YOU GOT A VEHICLE THAT RUNS WELL DRIVES WELL YOU'VE MAINTAINED IT, BUT ITS NOT WORTH PUTTING $400- $1500
PER SIDE. $400 DOOR MOTOR AND OR $350 FOR A CLOSER ASSEMBLY LATCH. TO ME AS YOUR VAN AGES THESE COMPONENTS, NOT IF BUT WHEN, THEY FAIL. LITERALLY YOU COULD END UP IF DONE AT DEALER $1500 PER SIDE.
AND THE VEHICLE WILL ONLY BE WORTH THAT AMOUNT.
THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED, JUST FOR THE SAFETY ISSUES, TO FIGURE OUT A CHEAP FIX FOR THESE DOORS TO SHUT AND LOCK SO OUR CHILDREN PETS OR OBJECTS IN VAN CANT FALL OUT.

Over the last couple of years my power sliding doors have had to have help with hands to close and open. A couple of days ago (and at around 96K miles) the drivers slide sliding door wouldn't shut at all. I've read a couple of temporary fixes at http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t21612_ds533071 but that's only temporary as I'm told by my local dealer that Honda vans power door problems are common and cost from $500 to $1000 per side to fix.
After reading online at this and other sites I see just how common of a problem it is. Unfortunately, there's no recall that I know of on this problem and I don't really want to pay for the fix so I'm hoping I can somehow put the doors in manual mode and make them last for awhile. This really sucks as I've taking really good care of this van and I expect a $35K (cost when new) to last longer and Honda to stand behind their products.
This experience doesn't make me want to buy another Honda and I'm sure to do more research on any other car I buy as who knows which car maker stands behind their products anymore? sigh!
It appears that many others have experienced a similar issue with the passenger sliding door and the fix in almost all the cases is to replace a faulty door latch actuator. Cost of the part is 45. In our case the dealer replaced the sliding door control assembly at a cost of just over 400.00 and it still did not resolve the problem. And with some much written already about this problem, can't believe honda hasn't issued a recall yet.
After owning our new Odyssey for less than a year, we had difficulty getting the driver's side rear sliding door to open. At first we thought it was just locked, but after checking and realizing that it wasn't, we came to the conclusion that it was just stuck. We pulled very hard until finally it came free. To this day, it still sticks. Once you "break the seal" it slides on the track fine. The difficulty is getting it to initially budge.
The day after we bought the Odyssey the automatic door the side door wouldn't shut. It gets about an inch from closing then pops open. I attempt to shut it several times before it will finally close. This happens randomly. I can't find out what triggers this....but nothing is blocking the door. I am about to go in for the 3rd attempt at fixing it.

The door just doesn't close right. It closes then wants to open itself again. Quickly switched the child seat to the other side and drive to the dealer with the buzzer on!
While there, complained about the noise from padded ceiling. The damn thing feels like it's not glued right, and it's right above my head.
Folks, this is a brand new HONDA I bought, and it's already the 2nd time it is getting serviced before the 1st oil change.
The first service was correction on the steering wheel alignment.
The sliding door on the passenger door does NOT open and close smoothly, it sounds like there is lack of lubrication. The service guy at the dealership applied a lot of lubrication; after a few weeks it sounds better but not convinced that it slides as well as the other side.
