Peeling paint, a whining steering pump and an easily breakable A/C condenser are all top complaints about the 2007 model year. And anyone who doesn't think a busted minivan A/C is a big deal has never taken a summer road trip with kids.
All of a sudden electrical problems. The battery started dying. Took it to deal and took him a lot of time to find issue, the fixed it. It's still draining, and they spent more time investigating, then found another part that is draining. Then they said there is still 100 amps draining. I told them to stop because it was getting expensive. I am really disappointed in Honda. A month ago, I had to fix a leak in the transmission fluids. Before that there was a leak in the steering wheel fluids. And for the last 2 years I did not drive it much. It is a lemon.
Also, every now and then the D (drive light) starts blinking and the check engine light comes on. Then it goes away a couple days later. Took it to dealer and they could not find what is wrong with it!!!
Either the dealer is really bad and their mechanics sucks, or they are screwing me...

Honda gives the Odyssey minivan crappy relays. These things go out all the time. There are three of them. They are relatively easy to replace and troubleshoot. The worst is a dead battery in the AM and possible AC system damage because it leaves the system on even when it's technically off.
There is an upgraded relay available at Autozone. After researching the AC relay has died several times under 100k miles to many owners. Honda should use better components. The upgraded relay is about $20 bucks versus $8.00. That's cheap to deal with and won't have the wife ripping you a new one over being broken down or not able to get the kids from school.
Battery has died 3 times - bought a new battery about 16 mo ago - vehicle drained that battery - got a replacement battery - it has been drained 2 times this month - will jump start & run fine.
Every two years on Halloween for the first 4 years we had the vehicle the battery died. Not covered under warranty. The dealer said it is because of all the extra electircal equipment. So far the 3rd battery has lasted 2.5 years. I always keep jumpers in this car.
My first battery went bad after about 25000 miles which was covered by warranty. Then, the replacement battery from Honda died at 50000 miles. Despite the fact that the battery says HONDA 100 months warranty, i was told i have to pay for my 2nd one. It seems that the problem is not with the battery. Some components must be draining the battery...
Shortly after we changed the battery, A/C started to act funny...got some electric smell from the car...now the engine light came on, then VSA light. I have a feeling that something went wrong electronically when 2nd battery made a loud noise when parked with the engine on. I checked the battery and positive side metal had a crack btwn the metal and the plastic.

Since November 5th, our 2007 Honda Odyssey has an electrical problem that the manufacturer can't seem to identify. The problem drains the van's battery when dormant for an extended period of time (9+ hours). None of this happened until after the engine suddenly had an unusual crack pop noise (like a live electrical wire touching metal) while the van was idling one morning in the rain. Upon hearing the noise, I drove the van straight to the closest Honda dealer for diagnosis. I explained the symptoms to the dealer and they ran a diagnostic test for a $50 fee. After an hour they indicated that they couldn't find anything wrong with the van.
That night, the van started sluggishly and the door indicator light indicated the driver side passenger door was open. I tried pushing the button to close it but it didn't respond so I got out and forced the door closed manually. I ran my errand and returned without turning off the van. I parked the van at home and the next day the battery was completely dead.
I had the van towed to Honda "as is" who tested the vehicle and replaced the battery. Our van now has been towed 3 times from our home for the same problem...a completely dead battery. Our Honda dealer replaced the battery each time proclaiming that was the cause and now, after having the van towed again we are infuriated because we no longer have a "RELIABLE VAN".
We've owned our van for 3 1/2 years now and love it for all of its conveniences; however, we have experienced the 'dead van' syndrome repeatedly for the last two months and most recently on Christmas.
It's time for Honda to stand up and take responsibility for the electrical mishap, fix the recalls, and truly resolve our issue. It's sad because we bought our Honda to have a reliable car. Right now our van is far from it.
the honda battery is made by the johnson company from texas. this is the same company that makes the cheap walmart batteries. i am surprised that honda would farm out a low quality product that fails just after the warranty.
I'm quite annoyed really. I wanted a Honda cause its supposed to be a great running - long lasting vehicle. Bought brand new off the lot to avoid issues.... yet, here I am. I too have had a battery die under warranty. Not even a year later and I have an ever dying battery. As I drive and reach about 40 mph the car goes into convulsions... shakes and the rpm's go crazy. The dumb thing is -that I have already taken it into the dealership to check it out. Any one have any thoughts? Oh... to add to the fury I wanted to check on any recalls. Turns out that there is some brake issue for this year and make. Just in case any one else see's this owning the same vehicle.
Honda must look into this problem. It turns out that this is the third battery
that we replace in 42k miles, 2 years. The first battery was replaced
at 8k still under warranty. The dealer replaced it with a 10year warranty
battery. The problem is that since the warranty expires at 36K, the
dealer says: "So sorry, bad luck, you are on your own after 36k,
even though your lease is for 45K miles".
By doing some research I am finding out that it is a common problem,
that Honda must fix.
This is cruddy treatment of American consumers. Using the old predictable maintenance problems to scare folk into buying extended warranties etc. The battery in my 2007 Odyssey died exactly 24 months after purchasing the vehicle. I ended up just getting a new battery instead of bothering with jumping.
