CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007-2009 was, at one point, the best selling minivan in the United States. But 2007 owners got the short end of that deal.
Peeling paint, a whining steering pump and an easily breakable A/C condenser are all top complaints about the 2007 model year. And anyone who doesn't think a busted minivan A/C is a big deal has never taken a summer road trip with kids.

I opened my rear hatch door using the remote, it opened with the normal short beeps but closed very fast with a continues alarm. I opened the hatch manually and it slammed shut, won't stay open.
Liftgate struts failure. I just wanted to make you aware of the danger when a liftgate strut failed without any warning or indication of failure. My Odyssey 2007 liftgate was working fine on Saturday but then completely failed on Sunday. It just drops from an open position. I'm glad that no one gets hurt. When I try to lift it again, the strut would not hold the tailgate open anymore. I reported to Honda dealer and was told that there was no recall for 2007 model but there was a recall for 2008 and up. I will suggest that you also check the strut on models 2005 and up as it looks like there a lot of complain strut failure on these year model as well when you go to odyclub.com which is a forum for Honda Odyssey owners. I will replace mine and not wait for Honda to take ownership on this failure but I am still reporting this in hope that no one will get hurt if Honda continues to ignore this issue. Liftgate struts failure can cause injury or even death especially to small adults and children.
The lift gate strut on our 2007 Honda Odyssey ex-L suddenly failed and the gate fell by itself. It almost injured me while loading shopping bags into the trunk area. The rear gate is very heavy that it could actually result in a severe injury or fatality, when it suddenly fell on one's head. After some research online, I found that the same issue occurs to other Honda Odyssey owners. Cite: www.odyclub.com/forums/52-2005-2010-Odyssey/40133-tailgate-gas-strut-problems-9.html there's also a similar recall for 2008 and 2009 Honda Odyssey model regarding the lift gate strut.

My daugher and I heard a clicking noise coming from the back of my van and opened up my tailgate to see where the noise was coming from. The tailgate was working but a clicking noise was coming from the strut on the left. Both my six year old and I were under the tailgate at the time trying to figure out where the clicking noise was coming from. Ten minutes later the strut failed. It would no longer stay open at all and slammed down instead of staying open. Had my daughter and/or I had been under it at the time of failure, we would have been seriously injured. This is a very unsafe situation for a family vehicle. It is common for both of my children and I to unpack items from the van and it sickens me that this problem has happened before on Honda oddessey vans!
The tail gate lift was working fine one day and on the next day the tail gate hit my wife in the head. This is very dangerous as this happened with no warning. Honda must fix this matter because this is very dangerous.
The lift gate gas filled struts on our 2007 Honda Odyssey have failed. The lift gate will not stay open to pack the van for trips and requires some sort of prop to stay open. The gate has fallen twice off the prop and hit me, not seriously, but it hurt. It's heavy. I see that later models have a recall associated with similar problems but the 2007 does not as of yet. (NHTSA campaign #12V062000, action # PE11034).
The rear power liftgate cannot stay in open position. Power liftgate would open and then slam shut occasionally. Struts cannot support weight of rear liftgate.
Rear liftgate struts on 2007 Honda Odyssey experienced sudden failure causing the rear liftgate to suddenly close on me when standing under it. Struts are manufactured by stabilus part # 6826ur 0810N 334/06 C7. The part number is 74820-shj-A012. There was a previous safety recall for the 2005 Honda Odyssey for this same issue. The NHTSA action number EA08015. There is no recall notice for the 2007 sudden strut failure.
The power liftgate on my 2007 Honda Odyssey touring minivan started opening partially, and within three days the liftgate would not hold door open. Power struts failed and hit my son and daughter in back as they were climbing into van. No recalls on file for my year model, but have seen several other complaints for the same problem.
Our 2007 Honda Odyssey was working perfectly until yesterday when the hatch shut on me. It knocked me out for a minute. I don't know what happened that it just stopped working but it just missed our new puppy who was in my arms at the time.
Rear liftgate struts on 2007 Honda Odyssey experienced sudden failure causing the rear liftgate to suddenly close on person standing beneath. Liftgate was functioning properly, lifted and closed no issues. Sunday 06/12 opened the liftgate and proceeded underneath as the liftgate came crashing down. No longer has strut assist to open or support it.
Our 2007 Honda Odyssey liftgate gas struts both failed with no warning on March 1, 2011. This is very dangerous because it slammed down and could have hurt someone. Seems this is a common occurrence with Odyssey made in the last 10 years. I have had other vehicles with liftgates and none have failed. Honda should fix this as a safety issue before someone gets hurt.
