CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007-2009 was, at one point, the best selling minivan in the United States. But 2007 owners got the short end of that deal.

Peeling paint, a whining steering pump and an easily breakable A/C condenser are all top complaints about the 2007 model year. And anyone who doesn't think a busted minivan A/C is a big deal has never taken a summer road trip with kids.

Passenger door would not close or open. Honda dealership knows of the problem but there is no recall. The door opened while I was driving with my son in the passenger seat in back. I almost had a heart attack. This is a huge problem and now Honda has my car and telling me it will be 1700 to fix it , the latch and roller need to be replaced. Why is this not a recall, i have read several similiar issues. My son could of seriously fell out of the car if he had undone his seatbelt. This needs to be a recall. Plus, we couldnt use the passenger door causing my children to exit out on drivers side and that is a huge safety issue as well! Getting out on the left side of the car where cars are speeding by.

Having small children, safety was the main issue because the door that would not slide was the passenger side which meant the children had to enter on the drivers side, same side as traffic. Very dangerous for them and so I would have to get out and be the safety guide to protect them. Would have been nice not to have had to do that for the last 5 years.

My odyssey passenger door started making this noise and sticking. Then it got to a point where it would open half way and close on its own or close half way and then open again. On the morning of October 2, 2016 my family and I were returning home from a trip to NY. It was around 1:30 in the morning and raining, as we pulled into the driveway and we're getting out, the van door opened and closed again almost catching my husbands hands as he was trying to take my toddler out. The van door then made this grinding noise and popped out!! It was literally hanging on by the hinges. The noise and the door popping out scared everyone. It's almost two in the morning and there is chaos in our driveway with our baby screaming. We took the baby in and my husband and son pushed and lifted the door til we could get it to stop hanging. We covered the door with trash bags to stop the rain from getting in and took pictures when there was light out later that day. I wish I could have had the state of mind to take pictures when the door was hanging but we were all shocked. We had a friend who is a mechanic and he helped push the door back in. It is now closed until we can have it repaired. I called My Honda service station on the 4th and he said he had heard of the issue but I would need to call Honda corporate and see if they would authorize the repair. I call Honda customer service and a gentleman by the name of Anthony told me that because of the mileage on my van I was not eligible for repairs costs. I explained that I read many complaints about this issue and not everyone had high mileage, he said he wasn't aware of any recalls regarding this issue and they couldn't do anything for me. This was my third Honda and like I said to him, it would be my last because it wasn't the first time Honda refused to acknowledge issues that hundreds were reporting.

Both doors starting having an issue where they would either 'pop' when being opened or would just beep. I found out the problem was due to faulty door actuators, which is different than the door motors. These are the devices that control the securing/releasing of the door latch when closing/opening the door. The problem was due to them not releasing the latch properly when the door.

I found a video on YouTube that shows how to do the repair, so did it myself for around $90 for parts -- labor is bit time intensive, I think took me around 3 hours to do. I believe the Honda dealership wanted $500+ to fix.

This door (driver's side) can still be shut with the electric door closer, but it is making rumbling sounds like the passenger side door did before the roller broke. I'm trying to be careful with it in hopes that it can be nursed along. Failure (or near failure) of both side doors is a little much. I would never by another Honda product based on my experience with his van.

Okay, this is my second complaint regarding issues with drivers power sliding door. For the last week (since this problem initially occurred), I have continued to listen/observe the door make a thump...thump...thump... noise while it attempted to close.... and then open, press button on remote or interior button AGAIN, attempt to close etc. until it finally it decides to close. However tonight was the last straw! I opened the same door using the door handle, the door opened almost completely, my six year old son began to climb in. It was at this time, my son was half in and half out of the van, that the door began to close. ON ITS OWN!!! Thankfully, I was standing right there to stop the door from closing and pull him out of harms way. Needless to say, I will be calling the Honda dealership tomorrow!!! I just spent the last half hour, videoing the door opening and closing and was not able to replicate this problem, I'll try again tomorrow. Shame on you Honda, I've been searching the web regarding this issue and I am not the only person with this problem. I'll continue to observe, and video, without my children in close proximity, to your dangerous doors!

Stupid sliding door on the drivers side has never worked properly. Twice brought to the dealer. They can never sort it out. It groans and sticks. If you hold the handle it works fine. Holding the remote or dashboard buttons don't do it though. Piece of garbage.

Our "automatic" side doors started giving us problems shutting, primarily on the driver's side, which we use more often. Then, we started having problems opening them, too. We have five kids ages 11 and under, and more than one of them has almost been closed in the doors because they got most of the way open, the kids started to climb in, then the door reversed and started to close again. Changing the setting to manual doesn't help as the doors are so heavy and difficult to move, especially on a hill.

My uncle owns the same year/model van and had the same problem. It cost him $300 per door to get it fixed.

By the way, when it first started this summer, we tried WD40. It seemed to help for a while...

Geez. after reading the other posted complaints, I should consider myself lucky. The night (Sept. 16th, 2010) before our family vacation, our driver side automatic sliding door wouldn't function. It would only open and close part way 50% .then it got even worse..down to 5%. I switched the mode from auto to manual, and the door still wouldn't function. Needless to say, I was able to finally shove the door shut and we went ahead with our vacation, inconvenienced by having to use the passenger side sliding door only.

When we got back into town, I took my Sept. 7th, 2007 bought car (yes, 9 days over the 3 yr. warranty) now with 16,100 miles (we started with 14,675) on it to the dealership. Upon investigation, the technician said we had a burned out sliding door motor. I guess the motor had reached its "number of cycles" (sarcastically said) the number of opening and closings. The Honda dealership and regional factory representative would not replace the motor at their cost since it was out of warranty, but instead they offered to pay for 50%. I refused. The dealership then called their factory rep. a 2nd time and we were able to negotiate a "goodwill" cost to me of only $115.86 or 25% of the full repair cost. Deciding whether or not I wanted a functioning door now versus taking the time to file my complaints against American Honda, I opted for the former approach. Just today, I received a call from American Honda, and since the minivan is out of warranty and the repairs already been done, they will not negotiate further with the regional factory representative.

The moral of the story, get American Honda on your side first, so that they can negotiate on your behalf. I will continue to scour the Honda websites for any mention of premature malfunctioning sliding door motors. Why? Just recently (9.23.10), Honda extended the warranty of the Civics sold between 2006 to 2009 models to 8 years and unlimited mileage due to coolant leaks. And, if you've already paid a repair bill, Honda will reimburse you, even if you don't own the car anymore. Now, that's what is going to make a difference when it comes to maintaining customer loyalty. As for me, this will be my first and last Honda.

First off, I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle from the month after I bought it. (I will add all complaints) We go to bring our kids to see our city's firework show and try to put them into the van, the door will not latch (stay open), then when we try to close it, it keeps hanging up and won't close unless you push the back part in. We get to the show and can hardly open the door (only opens maybe 12 inches.) We squeeze the kids out ..we have four by the way 8, 5, 2, and 1. Imagine how fun that was. When we go to leave same problem.. we get home and I go to get the kids out again..and the door FALLS OFF. So there we are with a door hanging by one hinge ...not to mention it dents and scratches the side of my van up. I brought it to the dealership today and its not covered under warranty..I have to pay out of pocket!!!! I hate this van! Should have gone with Dodge!

This door has been repaired 4 times, and currently we are going to arbitration with Honda in a few days. Driver side sliding door binds up, parts break off, and it locks up. Honda is NOT backing up their product and although we have allowed more then the suggested amount of repairs under Lemon Law, they are forcing us to go through arbitration. My door is LITERALLY broken halfway open right now and they will not repair it or replace it.

OWNED THIS CARE FOUR DAYS! first the door wasn't opening via the remote, then, when handle operated manually, door popped open a crack and wouldn't budge. interior door alarm went off, had to hip check it shut, was asked to check track for obstruction, was none, and when attempted to close again, some cable comes flying off it and hangs off the exterior of my car. It has now been in the shop 4 of the 7 days i have owned it.
